my mom and i are in desperate need of a nice but decently priced hotel in manhattan?

Q. for 2 days. we've tried all the hotel package deal sites and compared them to the room rates on the actual hotel website and we're really not getting a good deal. whats the best way to go about getting reasonably priced hotels in manhattan? should we 86 the travel websites and go through a travel agency?

A. Cassie suggested exactly what I was going to. call the hotels directly and speak to an agent and see if they can help you directly. If you belong to any associations they might be able to discount or if it is an off time, they might be able to discount. Don't call the 800 numbers for chains, try to get the direct number for the hotel in Manhattan.

edit: I just remembered... call the Hotel Larchmont. It is in Greenwich Village. Very decently priced but books quickly.. Only downside, is depending on the room you may have to share a common bathroom but if that doesn't bother you (can't remember if they have private bathrooms too) than this is a great option.

Where is a good Hotel near Six Flags Over Georgia that is affordable and gives group rates?
Q. My church is taking the youth and the youth grades K-12 will be treated by the church, but us College students will have to fend for ourselves...which wouldn't be a problem if it was affordable.

Right now they've given quotes for Wingate By Wyndham in Austell, GA. ---But it's like over 200 dollars per person for two nights...way too much!

So, are there any good, with decent priced hotels in Austell or other cities close to Six Flags that gives good group discount rates?

does anyone know how to get a discount price for hotel rooms at the Palms in Las Vegas in January?
Q. The prices even for a standard room at the Palms in January is absurd. does anyone know how to get a cheaper price?

A. Go to priceline.com and click the choose your price option. You can select the area you want to be in and type in the amount of $ you are willing to pay. They will then notify you if a hotel has agreed to your terms. If they do you have to pay for it right then and there. You can not cancel (but can buy an insurance policy for emergency situations). Typically you can't get a room until a short time before the trip.

We did this in Chicago and stayed on the Magnificent Mile (typically $200 a night plus) and paid $100 a night. We didn't get a hotel to accept our price until two days before our trip.
Good Luck!
