should i visit dublin or galway, i mainly want to shop and dine?

Q.

A. Defintely Dublin, I love Galway, but for shopping you cant pass Dublin.Grafton St and the surrounding streets on the southside of Dublin are great, theres a lot of higher class stores and botiques there (Brown Thomas etc..), but also a mixture of high street stores (Awear, Topman etc..). On the northside, Henry Street and the surrounding streets, full of high street and cheaper shops (great bargains). Also if ya fancied taking the Luas (Tram) to Dundrum Town Centre (get off at Balally Stop and follow the signs for the centre), it has a great mix of shops and a few good restaurants too, Plus a cinema and Winters Bar beside the cinema is a great spot.

In regards to dining,

check out http://www.menupages.ie/Dublin.aspx

This is a great site but reviews of all restaurants and something to suit every budget. For a really special treat, if ya dont mind splashing out, check out Town Bar and Grill on Kildare Street or Patrick Guilbaulds Restaurant in The Merrion Hotel.

For a cheap and cheerful option check out Bocca Italian on South Anne Street off Grafton Street, Great service, food and atmosphere and a normal three course meal for two will only set you back about E50.00 (a steal)

Have a great time wherever you decide to go.

My class is organizing a trip to Dublin, Ireland, and we'd like some information please....??
Q. Can you please give us names of low rate yet decent hotels and also cultural centers we can visit ???

A. Come on of course Dublin has culture.!!!

Here is a list I recommend.

Visit Oscar Wilde home at Merrion Square Gardens.
James Joyce Centre in North Great George street.
Dublina at Christchurch - Viking stories.
Visit the free Museum of Natural History. The Bog Men who have been fully preserved in peat for over 3000 years.
Trinity college has alot of culture, see the Book of Kells also.

Hotels that are good and decent is hard.
I recommend Jurys Inn. There is three of them in the city.

Cheers

Need a list of good hotels in Dublin, Ireland. Help?
Q. I'm planning a trip for 3 people to Dublin for the summer. Staying about a week. Hotel reviews are all iffy at best. One person will say a hotel was the best they ever stayed at, the other will say they it was a dump and near a methadone clinic (I seriously read that).

We don't mind sharing a room. We understand that European hotels rooms are smaller than U.S. ones; we just want a clean room in a safe area. If anyone has been (or lives there) and can recommend one, that would be great. Thanks!

A. I've stayed in some sh!tty hotel rooms in the US that were next to all sorts too.
You get what you pay for.
If you go cheap expect cheap.
Why don't you try the Conrad or the Shelbourne or the Merrion.
Some of Jury's hotels are nice too.
The Gresham is in the middle of O' Connell street and is nice and you will be in Dublin City Centre close to all amenities.
