What are good colleges for hotel management?

Q. I live in NJ and dont want to go that far. I already know about cornell and nyu, but i was also looking at temple and boston university...are they good for hotel management? anyone got any others?

A. In the tri-state area just to name a few...
Niagara U
Boston U
NYU
Johnson and Wales-Providence (Close enough)
and Cornell

All are very good schools... temple does not have a very strong program. Cornell, Niagara and BU are your best bets.

Syracuse also has a decent program, but is incredibly expensive for the education you will be receiving. If your going to spend that kind of money, come out w/ and ivy leauge degree.

What are some good topics between the late 1800s to the early 1900s?
Q. I'm doing a paper for my U.S. History class and it has to be on something between the 1870s and the 1920s. Unfortunately, it can't have anything to do with World War I because my teacher said that's getting into something totally new. I don't know what I want to do and something interesting would be nice. So, any suggestions?

A. In 1895:
September 3 - The first professional American football game is played, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, between the Latrobe YMCA and the Jeannette Athletic Club (Latrobe wins 12-0).

October- Rudyard Kipling publishes the story Mowgli Leaves the Jungle Forever in The Cosmopolitan illustrated magazine (price 10 cents).

December 24 - George Washington Vanderbilt II officially opens his "Biltmore House" estate on Christmas Eve, inviting his family to celebrate his new home in Asheville, NC.

W.E.B. Du Bois becomes the first African American to receive a Ph.D. from Harvard University

The gold reserve of the U.S. Treasury is saved when J. P. Morgan and the Rothschilds loan $65 million worth of gold to the United States government

In 1896:
January 4 - Utah is admitted as the 45th U.S. state

March 23 - The New York State Legislature passes the Raines Law, restricting Sunday alcoholic beverage sales to hotels

May 26 - Charles Dow publishes the first edition of the Dow Jones Industrial Average

June 4 - The Ford Quadricycle, the first Ford vehicle ever developed, is completed, eventually leading Henry Ford to build the empire that "put America on wheels

November 30 - A large carcass, later postulated to be the remains of a gigantic octopus, is found washed ashore near St. Augustine, Florida

December 25 - John Philip Sousa composes his magnum opus, the Stars and Stripes Forever, on Christmas Day

In 1897:
January 23 - Elva Zona Heaster is found dead in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. The resulting murder trial of her husband is perhaps the only case in United States history where the testimony of a ghost helped secure a conviction.

March 4 - William McKinley succeeds Grover Cleveland as President of the United States

September 1 - The Boston subway opens, becoming the first underground metro in North America.

In1897:
January 1 - New York City annexes land from surrounding counties, creating the City of Greater New York. The city is geographically divided into five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, and Staten Island

February 15 - Spanish-American War: The USS Maine explodes and sinks in Havana harbor, Cuba for then unknown reasons, killing 266 men. This event helps lead the United States to declare war on Spain.

April 5 - Annie Oakley promotes the service of women in combat situations with the United States military. On this day, she writes a letter to President McKinley "offering the government the services of a company of 50 'lady sharpshooters' who would provide their own arms and ammunition should war break out with Spain.". In the history of women in the military, there are records of female U.S. Revolutionary and Civil War soldiers who enlisted using male pseudonyms, but Oakley's letter represents possibly the earliest political move towards women's rights for combat service in the United States military.

April 22 - Spanish-American War: The United States Navy begins a blockade of Cuban ports and the USS Nashville captures a Spanish merchant ship.

April 25 - Spanish-American War: The United States declares war on Spain; the U.S. Congress announces that a state of war has existed since April 21 (later backdating this one more day to April 20).

May 1 - Spanish-American War - Battle of Manila Bay: Commodore Dewey destroys the Spanish squadron.

July 7 - The United States annexes the Hawaiian Islands.

So on and so forth...
