I am in Los Angeles and will be traveling to Las Vegas. Is there a hotel Las Vegas that has good deals?

Q. I am in Los Angeles and will be traveling to Las Vegas. Is there a hotel Las Vegas that has good deals?

A. The Stratosphere has good deals, I've stayed there several times. The Clarion on Flamingo Rd. is another one, it doesn't look like much from the outside but the rooms are huge and have everything you need. The Clarion is one of my favorite places to stay in Vegas. It all depends on your budget and where you want to be located.

Best affordable hotels in the las vegas strip?
Q. What are the best hotels in Las Vegas on the strip and are affordable/cheap without the rooms being run down/tacky.
I was planning on staying at the Palazzo hotel(I know its not cheap) for 3 nights but I just wanna have more options.
Also, pros and cons for the hotel/hotels you've listed?

A. Sure book with the promo codes you can find pretty much anywhere (best site is i4vegas and, to a lesser extent, smartervegas). However, Palazzo is going to be expensive no matter what. MGM will offer very nice room at much more affordable prices, or Luxor (Tower rooms only), or even the very nice Paris resort. Otherwise Tresure Island is affordable, though its rooms are small in my opinion. Mirage has beautiful rooms but it's so noisy (no soundproofing in any way)...

What are the closest hotels near New York New York Hotel in Las Vegas?
Q. Trying to find websites or whatever to tell me what are the closest hotels near the New York Hotel in Las Vegas.

A. Here is a link to an interactive map of the las vegas strip http://www.visitlasvegas.com/vegas/stay/planning-information/maps/?map=5 If it is not on South Strip, click on "select another map" and click on South Strip. The hotels surrounding Ny Ny are MGM Grand, Tropicana, Excalibur (connected to Luxor and Mandalay Bay) and Monte Carlo. Of those, Tropicana is the worst, Mandalay Bay is the best. Excalibur and Monte Carlo are the most affordable, and Luxor and MGM Grand have the best party atmospheres. Mandalay Bay has the best pool, with MGM Grand coming in 2nd, followed by Tropicana.

combined the sentences by changing the italicized word group to an infinitvie or infinitive phrase?

Q. (italicized word group)

1. The journalist took a job in the hotel. (This way he would get facts for an article. )
2. Bob used raspberry flavor in the cod liver oil. (It masks the taste of the medicine.)
3. John bought a black cate. (In this way, he proved he wasn't superstitious.)
4. It doesn't always save time (if someone is doing something in a hurry)
5. The weather bureau uses balloons. (They determine the temperature aloft)

A. 1. To get the facts for an article, the journalist took a job in the hotel.
2. To mask the taste of the medicine, Bob used raspberry flavour in the cod liver oil.
3. To prove he wasn't superstitious, John bought a black cat.
4. To do something in a hurry doesn't always save time.
5. To determine the temperature aloft, the weather bureau uses balloons.

The Infinitive form of a verb is always "to" - "To walk", "To be", "To understand" etc.
"Infinitive" = "without time" - other forms of the verb are Past Tense - "walked"; Present Tense -
"am"; Future Tense -"will understand" etc.)

can someone hep me please. i booked a room for me and my husband at best western?
Q. in Orlando Florida on Disney property. it is not in the park. that is not a problem but it is a 4 star hotel at downtown Disney and does not have the big screen television or small fridge in room. also it has only double beds. i don't mind the t.v. but the room fridge is only available at 10 dollars more per night.
i like the idea of being where the trolleys run and the area. just concerned if i picked a bad hotel. please help if you have been there.

A. The info you provided, about your location, is a bit contradictory b/c the mention of the trolley. You see, when people speak of the trolley, they're referring to the I-Drive Trolley, which basically runs along I-Drive (International Drive), and does not go to Lake Buena Vista (LBV) where your hotel is at. If in fact you're staying @ the Best Western LBV, on Hotel Plaza Blvd, then you're considered as being in the Downtown Disney resort area. Some facts...Your hotel IS on Disney property. It, along with some other select hotels, leases the land from WDW. To give you more assurance, they must all conform to Disney standards, per their lease agreement. Technically, there is no such thing as a Disney resort "in the park", there's simple resorts "in WDW", or "on Disney property". The only possible exception to this rule is the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which b/c of the proximity to the Animal Kingdom, some would define as "in the park".

You have NOT picked a bad hotel. It's location is convenient (walking distance to DT Disney and to the shops/restaurants/etc. on 535 in LBV). Pool is good, views from aloft are good, rms are clean, service is fine. Transportation to WDW is included (you'll probably be using a "DT Disney Hotels" bus, provided by Disney itself).

Any good nightclubs or lounges in Philadelphia / Philly?
Q. Visiting Philly for the first time. Please recommend any good clubs or lounges. I would like something 21 n over, more on the grown and sexy side. Nothing too bougie but nothing dirty. Something more urban if anything playing hiphop, reggae and rnb. Thanks!

A. There is the XYZ Bar at the Aloft Hotel out by the airport, sleek sexy indoor outdoor modern feel to it.

Tritone on south street, really hip and old school blues and Jazz bar.

Anyhting on Deleware ave is going to be cool, but that will also be crowded crowded crowded.

Several of the Hotels in and around Market Street have some really posh lounges and clubs.

Old City has a lot of great bars and clubs.

Stay out of North Philly....everything there is really raunchy.

Is Bellevue, WA is nice city to live/work/visit?

Q. I've heard it's a rapidly growing city but I heard it's an alternative to the City of Seattle?

BQ: Best/Worst parts of the city?

BQ: If Bellevue wasn't any good, any other suggestions?
Wow, stupid grammar typo.

I should say "Is Bellevue, WA a nice city to live/work/visit?"

A. Bellevue is right across the lake from Seattle. It's the home of Microsoft, which spurred its growth; downtown Bellevue has a Hyatt hotel that is something like 30 stories tall, a huge upscale shopping center, some good upscale restaurants... they key recurring word here is "upscale."

There's not really a "worse" part of the city. The "worse" parts would be considered middle class, as opposed to upper-middle class or upper-class. It's safe overall, and though the downtown area is surprisingly tall, it's still not very big, and so because of this, most of the city is pretty suburban.

I suppose it's as good as any small city to live and work in. If you work at Microsoft or a bank or some other high-paying job; any other job in the city is typical of Washington state pay, which is fairly low. Visiting is largely pointless, since there's not much to *see* in terms of touristy, unique attractions, unless you reeeeeeeally want to take a tour of the Microsoft campus. I think it'd make more sense to stay in Seattle and maybe get over to Bellevue for the day if you're interested in moving there.

The main thing I didn't like about Bellevue is that it seems as though it's trying to be Seattle's Beverly Hills - country clubs, large upscale shopping center that feels like the Beverly Center, and is filled with people who look like they want to live in Beverly Hills. All of my LA friends who came to visit and went over there all remarked how "fake LA" it was.

Where is a good place to stay in Philadelphia?
Q. Want to go to Philadelphia and spend the weekend. Want to avoid expensive "convenient" hotels. Also want to stay in safe neighborhoods. Like visiting NYC and staying in Kew Gardens Queens or some other nice quiet outter borough location. Will be visiting museums and looking for live music and comedy clubs in the day. Recommendations on everything would be great.

A. Best Historic Hotel: Well, it's only the "lite" version of what it used to be, when Thomas Edison designed the fixtures and the ballroom defined swank. But the top floor of the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue, Broad and Walnut streets, or 1415 Chancellor Court, between Walnut and Locust streets (tel. 800/223-1234), with its Library Lounge bar and pastel-painted, domed Barrymore tea room, carries traces of a century's worth of history.

Best for Business Travelers: Hotel Sofitel, 120 S. 17th St. (tel. 800/SOFITEL), is one of the upscale chain with a French accent. Philly Sofitel's location is incredibly convenient, and the rooms are large and elegant, with easy access to plugs and modem jacks at a handsome desk. You'll find personal voice mail, also. The service staff is efficient and courteous.

Best for a Romantic Getaway: The Penn's View Hotel, Front and Market streets (tel. 800/331-7634), feels like an exquisite club, with views over the Delaware River. And how could you not like what the New York Times hails as "the mother of all wine bars" downstairs?

est Hotel Lobby for Pretending You're Rich: There's no place like the cool, plush Four Seasons Hotel, 1 Logan Sq. (tel. 800/332-3442), for rubbing elbows with the moneyed elite (it's also a great place to stay if you are the moneyed elite). The Swann Lounge overlooking Logan Circle is a constant stream of chic outfits, custom suits, and the frequent black tie.

Best for Families: The Hilton Inn at Penn, in West Philadelphia at 3600 Sansom St. (tel. 800/445-8667), is a cross-town ride from the historical sights, but offers the whole family space to roam among spacious corridors, ever-present fruit to munch on and tea to sip in a comfortable library lounge, plus TV for children to watch while parents exercise. Also, the campus of U. Penn across the street is perfect for throwing a Frisbee or playing tag. Slightly tattered but more moderately priced is the Embassy Suites Center City, 1776 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy. at Logan Square (tel. 800/362-2779), with cute little open-air balconies (yes, the railings are sturdy), and an opulent buffet breakfast at the TGI Friday's at street level. It's 5 minutes to the premier children's museums and Logan Circle. And all the rooms are suites, so parents can have their privacy.

Best Moderately Priced Hotel: The Hotel Windsor, 1700 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy. near Rittenhouse Square and City Hall (tel. 877/784-8379), is the best choice in its price range. A one-room suite with two double beds and full kitchen goes for $139. A generous continental breakfast is included in the rate.

Best B&B: Many, many more B&Bs are listed through A Bed & Breakfast Connection/Bed & Breakfast of Philadelphia than are listed independently. A favorite among the latter is Shippen Way Inn, 418 Bainbridge St. (tel. 800/245-4873 or 215/627-7266), which has nine rooms in two Queen Village row houses built around 1750 and lovingly maintained. You might also try Ten Eleven Clinton, 1011 Clinton St. (tel. 215/923-8144), an elegant 1836 Federal town house on a quiet tree-lined street. See the "Historic Bed & Breakfasts" box on for more on both.

Best Service: The training process for every employee of the Ritz-Carlton hotels is legendary, and the staff at the hotel at 10 Avenue of the Arts (tel. 800/241-3333) is no exception. Guests pay top prices (though weekend packages are actually quite affordable) to be pampered. It's a fantasyland of amenities; service attendants earn points for thinking of extras like both foam and down pillows in the closets and bookmarks in the TV Guides.

Best Hotel for Historic District Hopping: If you're here to see Independence Park, why not wake up looking at it through the floral chintz curtains at the Omni Hotel at Independence Park, 4th and Chestnut streets (tel. 800/843-6664)? All 150 guest rooms have views of the Greek Revival Second Bank of the U.S. and a half-dozen of America's Georgian jewels. And the clip-clopping of horses and carriages below maintains the sense of history.

What are some good restaurants in Nashville, TN?
Q. We are staying at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and need some relatively close and decent restaurant options while we are in town. We are from Texas, so no mexican food. Any southern foods or bbq joints would be appreciated. Thanks!

A. OK!!!

First, for breakfast, there is a Waffle House nearby. I know this sounds like a lame start to a list of restaurants, but boy, for good breakfast cheap, can't beat it.

Opryland hotel itself has some good restaurants. There are a lot of chain places nearby. Frankly, I'm just going to skip all those cause the real Nashville treasures are downtown. I just recommend going into town for most if not all your meals.

The essential Nashville breakfast: Pancake Pantry. expect to have to wait for a table, so go before you're ravenous, but do go! it's worth the wait in it's great food and fabulous Nashville-ness. This is one of the places you may see familiar faces (musicians, etc). (1796 21st Ave S, Nashville)

Elliston Place Soda Shop for lunch... a Meat-n-Three place. So good and so local. you may think this is a hole in the wall at first, but it is another really great favorite of the locals

Noshville - another good lunch with a different twist... good deli style food, Matzo ball soup is a GIANT hit, you can get carryout too (parking isn't always easy) and take it over to nearby Centennial Park... feed the ducks, check out the old steam engine train, tour the parthenon, etc.

Loveless Cafe - farther west - Bellevue to be exact. No matter what else you get, biscuits are essential. You might want to call ahead for reservations. This place is a HUGE hit with locals and celebs alike. One of the most photographed restaurants in Nashville at least! Very good. (8400 Highway 100)

This is a good city to eat at Hard Rock, being Music City USA...

Whitt's or Corky's for BBQ...

HRH Dumplins for incredible bread, chicken and dumplings, apple dumplings and a dessert counter that will make your pants split just looking at it.

You know, I think that the lunch places in Nashville really are the best. There are, of course, great dinner places, but go to Frommers or something to find out about those, cause they're pretty straightforward and frequently chains... Mortons, Melting Pot, etc.

Where is the best beach in San Diego?

Q. Coronado City Beach that is located in Coronado Island near the famous Hotel del Coronado?
Silver Strand State Beach?

Here's a link to more of the best San Diego beaches, and a San Diego beaches map.

Which part of Hong Kong do I need to go to take a Ferry going to Macau? How long long is the travel?

Q. How much is the cost in the Ferry going to Macau?

I am booked at Wynn Casino Hotel, how will I go to Senatorâs Park? How far is this Hotel from Venetia Casino Hotel

What are the tourist spots in Macau? Is it a small city that I can easily move around? Is itadvisable to reach Macau from Lantau Island in Hong Kong?

A. For taking ferry to Macau from Hong Kong, there are two places that you can take from:
1. HK Macau Ferry Terminal at Shun Tak Centre, Connaught Road West, Sheung Wan at Hong Kong Island side. It's near to Sheung Wan MTR Station which is 1 station west of Central MTR Station on Island Line (the terminus station for Island Line). From Airport, take Citybus A11 to Shun Tak Centre.
2. HK China Ferry Terminal at Harbour City Gateway, Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui at Kowloon Side. It's near Kowloon Park (West of Kowloon Park) and its within walking distance from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station/East Tsim Sha Tsui KCR Station for Tsuen Wan Line for MTR and East Rail Line for KCR (thats go all the way to Lo Wu, Shenzhen). From Airport, take Airport Express to Kowloon Station and take a taxi.

The cost for the ferry is from HK$142 for Turbojet for Weekdays and from HK$152 for weekends and service from both Terminals. For NWFF, from HK$133 for weekdays and from HK$148 for weekends. It departs from HK China Ferry Terminal only. Timings are approx. 60-75 minutes depending on several factors (eg. type of vessels, weather condition etc.)

For Macau, the best way is take a taxi to around, so all your trip will be by taxi. The distance between Wynn Macau and Venetian is not very far and its only 10 to 15 minutes taxi ride between the two.

There are many tourist spots in Macau and if you want to knoe more, visit: http://www.macautourism.gov.mo/en/index.php for the details. Yes, Macau its a very small city that its easy to get around and taxi fares here are inexpensive in western standard as on par with many asian destination. As for getting from Lantau Island in Hong Kong to Macau, currently its not advisable until the new bridge is constucted that plies between Hong Kong and Macau. But if you want, you can take a taxi to Mui Wo and take a ferry to Central Ferry Terminal, than walk to Central MTR Station and take the MTR Island Line towards Sheung Wan and alight at Sheung Wan Station. Or Taxi to Tung Chung MTR Station. Take the Tung Chung Line all the way to Hong Kong Station. Transfer at Central Station and follow the above mention.

Where can I find cheap hotels in atlantic city?

Q. Im going on a trip there soon. Im not gonna carry much money with me so I figured I better know where are the cheap hotels in atlantic city located

A. Most of the are located at the hot spots. There are a lot of cheap hotels in atlantic city, more exactly, there are places there that suit all pockets. You can check below for more info. Hope it helps.

Any suggestions for a nice hotel in atlantic city?
Q. So, my friend and I are planning a weekend trip to atlantic city. Last year, I stayed at the Harrah's Resort and I definitely enjoyed my stay. This year, I wanted to try something different. I want to find a hotel with cheap rates, a casino, a spa, and nice rooms. Basically, I want a hotel similar to Harrah's.... Any suggestions???

Thank you

A. If you want to stay in a casino hotel, you won't really find "cheap rates." Friday and Saturday rates can be outrageous.

The Borgata and its sister property, the Water Club, are both very nice. When I go to AC, I only stay there. But the prices on the weekend are terribly high.

I stayed at the Trump Taj Mahal once. It was enjoyable, but again, the weekend rates are high.

Edit: Dan Man, I'm not sure if you've looked into staying at an Atlantic City casino recently, but the Friday and Saturday rates are much, much higher than the Sun-Thurs rates. I get comped rooms at the Borgata Sun-Thurs, but if I wanted to stay on a Saturday night I'd still need to pay $200+ out of pocket. The person who asked this question specifically mentioned wanting a hotel with cheap rates, and $300+ per night isn't all that cheap.

The hotels in Las Vegas are much cheaper than those in AC.

Will casino hotels find out if you have more people sleeping in the room than stated upon reservation?
Q. We're college students trying to go to Atlantic City for a cheap winter break vacation. We found a bunch of casino hotels that offer two full size/queen beds. However, when we state we have 4 people (versus 2) the price doubles. We were wondering will the hotel find out if we check 2 people in, then actually have 4 people staying in the hotel room?

A. You're only going to get 2 key cards which most of the casinos in Atlantic City require to get into the elevator to go upstairs.

And remember there is a ton of security and cameras in a casino. So it is possible that a security guard could see how many people enter the room on camera. And in New Jersey, if you are caught with more people in the room than what is paid for, the police can come and evict you without refund (and I've seen it happen twice).

What part of Rome should I stay in to be close to tourist attractions?

Q. Looking for a hotel recommendation as well. Mainly looking for the part of the city that would be best to stay in and maximize walking.

A. I use this site for hotels here in Italy. http://www.venere.com/italy/rome/ . You can use the map to narrow down to a particular area of the city and then sort by price, rating, etc. The Colosseo Foro Romano, Trevi, Pantheon, Navona, and Piazza di Spagna areas would be the best for walking. Rome is large, but walkable for many of the tourist attractions. I prefer walking since there are interesting things to see that aren't major attractions too. The Repubblica near the Roma Termini train station has some cheaper places. It's a little further out, but still walkable.

You might consider a place like the Romano right across the street from the Forum if you decide to stay in Rome. http://www.venere.com/hotels/rome/hotel-â¦

A couple of other places that I particularly like are:
http://www.venere.com/hotels/rome/hotel-cesari/ - between the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain
http://www.venere.com/hotels/rome/hotel-accademia/ - right around the corner from Trevi Fountain.

How expensive is a short break in Rome for 2 people?
Q. i am planning to go to rome with my girlfriend late june-july 2011, im trying to plan in advance to get a cheaper deal, flights there and back i can get for under £300, but in rome and surrounding areas but still local how expensive is it, i have heard trains are cheap but everything else about rome screams out pricesy, so how much will be an ideal spending cost for 2 people for accomodation mid-range and food and small extras.

A. This depends a lot on exactly when you visit because prices can vary a lot. The place I usually stay generally run 80 to 150 euro per night and I would consdier those mid-range. You can check prices on sites like: http://www.venere.com/italy/rome/ Some of the places I particularly like are: the Accademia right around the corner from Trevi Fountain http://www.venere.com/hotels/rome/hotel-accademia/ ; the Cesàri near the Pantheon on the route to Trevi Fountain http://www.venere.com/hotels/rome/hotel-cesari/ and the romano which is across from the forum and can be a good value http://www.venere.com/hotels/rome/hotel-romano/ .

I generally count on spending around 25 to 50 euro for a meal, but I tend to go for the local specialties and the full meal with both pasta and a second dish when I'm out. You can certainly eat for less. A pizza is typically 8 to 13 euro and there are panini or pizza by the slice for 4 to 6 euro plus a drink. If breakfast is included in the hotel, take advantage of it. If it isn't just grab a brioche and a cappuccino somewhere - that will only be a couple euro each.

Entry fees can be free up or up to 15 to 20 euro depending on what you go see. You can find current prices on the websites. If you want to go inside the Colosseum, you can avoid the long line by going up the street to the Palatine Hill entrance and buy a combined ticket that's good for both plus the Forum. Then you can bypass the ticket line at the colosseum and just go in.

Souvenirs are totally up to you. Just budget what you think is a reasonable amount and stick to it.

What are some ways to save money during a short stay in Rome, Italy, during late October of 2009?
Q. My husband and I will be in Rome, Italy for 4 days before we board our cruise, and want to stay in the Historic district of Rome- so please give me specific names of places to stay, to eat at, and visit that would give us the most fun for the least amount of money.

And anything else that would help us, please suggest!

A. Well if you're going to Rome at the end of October (which is a nice time in Rome) then don't forget entrance to the Sistine Chapel is free the last Sunday of every month (get there early - at least by 8Am).
Here is a list of the Top 10 Free things to do in Rome http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com/rome-tourist-attractions.html

To save on accommodation your best bet is with a program/company like HotelsCombined. They search and compare various hotel bookers like Venere, Booking.com, Priceline, Travelocity, Hotelbookers etc etc and then return the best price from the lot for a specific hotel (or hotels).

You can visit http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com/hotels-in-central-rome.html for some advice on booking hotels in central Rome i.e. what to check before hand: What floor is the room on? Does the hotel have a lift (many of the old buildings in Rome don't)? Is breakfast included in the price? What does breakfast consist of? etc etc
And this page http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com/central-rome-hotels.html gives more info about hotelscombined and how to get the best results.

(When you have finished your search just click on "Price" and it will list hotel prices from cheapest first.)

A good idea is to get an idea of the different areas of Central Rome
http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com./rome-italy-map.html where you stay can greatly effect your holiday.

The Termini area is a little seedy in my opinion (it's the area around Termini Station - Upper Quirinal and Esquiline) and there have been a few petty crime incidents, but it seems to be under control now.
Most who book hotels in the area there tend to do so because of the convenience of public transport.
It's not in the historic center and there are so many nicer more authentic areas which are - Campo de Fiori, Piazza Navona, Trastevere, Pantheon, Trevi - where your experience of Rome will be an authentic one.
My favourite area - Trastevere!

I'm not sure if you've already booked your flight but here are some ideas on getting cheap airline tickets to Italy http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com/cheap-airline-tickets-to-italy.html

One last tip I can give you is to do the hop-on hop-off Touristic bus, it's the best way to see all the main attractions, orientate yourself and then decide which sights you would like to see within your time constraints.
More info http://www.romanlife-romeitaly.com/rome-bus-tour.html
Booking is not essential, you can purchase tickets on the bus, and climb on at any of the stops (see the map).

Enjoy!

Has anyone stayed at either The Britannia Hotel or the Etap in Birmingham - what did you think?

Q. We're looking for cheap accommodation and these both fit the bill, but some of the reviews are pretty rough. Help us make up our minds between them!

A. Not stayed in either.

However I have stayed at the Britannia's sister the Britannia Airport Hotel in Manchester and it is every bit as bad as the reviews. The chain seems, in my opinion to have somewhat of a bad reputation.

Never stayed in any Etap (i think it is Accor's budget chain - they also own Ibis and Novotel). However, all the ones I have seen are pretty new. I would expect it to be relatively clean and comfortable but very basic in terms of facilities

When is the best time to book a flight to England?
Q. My friend and I are planning a trip to England this summer (july, 2010). I was wondering when the best time to book our tickets? Right now they are super expensive, will they go down at all?

Thank you!

A. Hi Jessica,

Typically tickets tend to be their cheapest, I have found, for international travel about 8 - 12 weeks prior to the date of departure. With that said, traveling to the UK in July is a peak travel time and I would not expect to find inexpensive tickets. Prices you see now, I feel, will go down but do not expect them to go down that much. If you are looking for inexpensive tickets to the UK there are two periods when ticket prices for travel to the UK is reasonable. One period is from mid-September - late Nov / early December. Second period is from late January / early February - late April / early May. Also you have to remember that the cheapest days to travel, generally speaking are Mondays - Thursdays. Fridays and weekend departure dates can be significantly higher. Therefore to get the best deals possible look for departure dates during the week.

Another option you may want to consider is booking your flight and hotel room together. Sometimes it is cheaper to book both together on line instead of booking them separately. Also if you are going to the UK as a group of at least 8 then you may want to see if the airline will give you a group discount. However to get a group discount you may have to go through a travel agent or call the airline directly then booking on line. Lastly consider other airports such as Birmingham or Manchester sometime you can get cheaper flights into them instead of London. Birmingham is about a 1.5 hour train ride and Manchester is just over 2 hours via train from London.

Multiple layover and flight change question?
Q. If you have a flight with multiple layovers (Birmingham, UK to Paris, France to Houston, Texas to San Diego, California for example) and flight changes how does that work?

Do you have to collect your luggage, check in and go through customs again at every stage, or are you automatically transferred between flights at each airport?

Also, if you have an overnight layover, is it possible/allowed to spend the entire time in the airport or do you have to find a hotel?

A. For an international flight with layovers, when you check your luggage, it will be tagged for your final destination city and moved along accordingly, so in most cases, you don't have to worry about it (even though I have run into some issues with lost luggage over the years and those instances are more likely with more layovers). I would double check about your luggage if you are changing airlines at any point in your flight. For example, if you had a flight that was UK to Paris on Delta then Paris to Houston on United, I would ask if you need to collect your luggage in Paris and re-check it with United.

The airlines are very accustomed to passengers who have connecting flights and will help guide you to where you need to be going next, but it's important to pay attention because there are sometimes flights that lead to more than one connection, so make sure you're going to the correct next leg of your flight.

Is it possible to spend the entire time at the airport? In most cases, yes, you can. Most major airports are open 24/7 and there are so many people waiting around for flights that most likely, no one will even notice or care that you've been sitting around for hours...except you. Sitting in those airport chairs for hours gets to be uncomfortable after a while.

Although you didnât ask about it, I also wanted to mention that itâs a good idea to check with your airline about bag size restrictions and items that you canât carry onboard. This information can be found on the airlinesâ website. Itâs no fun to find out while boarding that your carry-on bag is too large and needs to be checked. Itâs also a real bother to be held up at the security checkpoint because your toothpaste tube is too large or you brought a regular size can of shaving cream.

A. Season 3 episode 2...I know it's the episode where they're at a hotel and Derek says 'Our marriage is over'... then Mark emerges out of the bathroom...that's when Derek leaves Addison but I know Mer and Der don't get back together 'til a few episodes.3.05 I think.

Looking for a Great Houston Area Restaurant to Have my 21st Birthday?
Q. I will be turning 21 in a few months and I'm looking for a nice elegant place to have my birthday party. I really would like to emphasize ELEGANT, please not crappy. I'm not too sure if I want to have at a banquet room in a hotel, or just a nice resturant. I really just don't know. If it helps my budget is $1,000. I dont even know if that's too much or too little. Need some help! Thanks in Advance!

A. The Rainbow Lodge is nice but also...
With $1000 you could take 10 people to Tony's (without too much alcohol!). They will make your birthday extra special if you inform them in advance.
If you want something a little bit less expensive, Olivette at the Houstonian is really good and elegant. The Spindletop, the restaurant at the top of Hilton of the America's Downtown has gorgeous views and great food.
Bistro Modern, at the Derek, is really good and has an elegant atmosphere.
There are soooo many good restaurants here!
If you want a banquet room in a hotel, you will need more money. That much might pay for the room but then you will need decorations & food.
Happy Birthday!

Would I be able to get married at the Philips arena or CNN center?

Q. The atlanta hawks are my fiancée favorite team. I would love to surprise him by having our wedding either at the Philips arena or the CNN center/Omni hotel. Though money isn't an issue I'd also like to know the cost if possible

Thanks
Omg guys autocorrect did that. "fiancé" all better? ... Definitely was not the point of the question.. I hate when people do that.

A. http://www.omnihotels.com/findahotel/atlantacnncenter/weddingsandbanquets.aspx
http://www.getmarried.com/local-wedding-vendors/atlanta/guest_accommodations/Omni_Hotel_at_CNN_Center/

I didn't find anything on Philips arena.

Also, a fiancee is a female and a fiance is a male.

Edit: Yes, its all better now. Except, spell checkers wouldn't flag fiancee or fiance since they are both the correct spelling, just not always the correct context. Just like the words there, their and they're :-)

I have received an email form Omni Hotel Canada offering for a job. Is the email is true or fake?
Q. The email is as below:

Omni Hotels is continually looking for ambitious, enthusiastic professionals who want to join the "Best Team in the Business.

We are running our employment program in a generally note we donât have to spend time and resources interviewing applicants from the distance, the hotel management have already arrange a training facility for all the sections below and all applicants shall undergo one full month of training upon arrival here in Canada to enable them to understand the Canadian hotel system.

Applicants shall be trained to suite the area fitting their ability and capability at the expense of the hotel.

For your Vacation, Accommodation and Food please be advice that all these are Hotel responsibilities; they will surely be taking care of by the Hotel management.... ..... .............................................................................................................
Sincerely,
Mrs. Rose Grand
Omni Mont Hotels
Montreal , Canada

A. Did you request this? If not, then that's red flag number 1. Have you posted your email on Monster.com or other job/cv websites? That might be how they got it, too. Red flag number 2 is the spelling and grammar--it's not correct; I realize that Quebec is officially bilingual, French *and* English being the official languages, but this raises my cautious eyebrow--especially if I hadn't asked them to email me. Be especially wary if they ask for credit card, debit card, or other account numbers, and personal information. In fact, look up the hotel at http://www.omnihotels.com/FindAHotel/MontRoyal.aspx and contact them about this to see if it is legit.

Whwere is the omni hotel asia headquarter lies in?
Q. I need the information about the Omni hotel asia headquarter.

A. You simply needed the information - gimme a break... I can't believe this kind of thing really happen

Q. my sister was offered a position at a hotel in new jersey in atlantic city but we live in brooklyn new york. It's too long a commute about 3 hours and too expensive $31.00 round trip
she wants to stay at the hotel where she will be working at but she cant afford to pay their regular nightly rates. Just wondering if hotels usually offer cheap rates for their employees. its too early to call them now so just wondering if anyone can answer this question please

A. Some do but it is still an average of 30.00 per night. In one months time that will be a bill of about 1000.00.

It's about the same as the commute. She might want to consider getting an apartment near her job.

A. why not switch over as a paying guest? There are homes in NJ offering good services.

Are there internet sites that offer lower hotel rates than the hotels do?
Q. I see some travel and hotel sites offering discounts and claiming lower rates than the hotels themselves offer. Is this true? For instance, Excalibur is offering $51 a night, but are there any other sites (such as hotelclub) that offer discounts on this, or cheaper rates than this?

A. Vegas.com sometimes has better deals. I tried Priceline once, and even though it said the hotel was ON the strip, it was about a block behind it. We ended up at a nice hotel, but if this is your first time to vegas stay at one of the main casino/hotels ON the strip.

Can anyone help me with some grammar and punctuation?
Q. I terrible at grammar! I need to find what is wrong with these sentences and why. Can anyone help?

First sentence:
I long to be at the exquisite Ritz Carlton Hotel in the Cayman Islands sipping drinks by the pool, like my parents are at this exact moment.

Second Sentence:
I try my best to listen to my grandmothers boring stories for as long as I can, but after about fifteen minutes, boredom overcomes me and I stare at the bland grey ceiling.

Third sentence:
Chaos gives way to the once calm room, and all on account of my sudden sickness.

Fourth sentence:
The uncertainty of where I was to end up if I perished brought the fear in me, and showed how weak I truly am.

Gracias :)
Ana

A. First sentence:
I long to be at the exquisite Ritz Carlton Hotel in the Cayman Islands sipping drinks by the pool, like my parents are at this exact moment.
==> It's a run-on. There should be a comma after Cayman Islands.

Second Sentence:
I try my best to listen to my grandmothers boring stories for as long as I can, but after about fifteen minutes, boredom overcomes me and I stare at the bland grey ceiling.
==> To show possession, there needs to be an apostrophe in grandmothers.

Third sentence:
Chaos gives way to the once calm room, and all on account of my sudden sickness.
==> The sentence is a fragment. The part after the comma is not a complete thought.

Fourth sentence:
The uncertainty of where I was to end up if I perished brought the fear in me, and showed how weak I truly am.
==> Put a comma after perished, because there's a pause in the sentence.

Why do South Africans believe they live in a democracy?
Q. Their government (including the president) is comprised of many Soviet trained thugs. The ANC government came to power with the blood of men, women and children on its hands.
Apartheid has been reinstituted - this time called BEE - and now favors blacks. South African politicians (as far up as the deputy president) are constantly on trial for offenses ranging from fraud to rape. And always being acquitted.
All those innocent people on trial - go figure.
The infrastructure, built by the previous government, has crumbled and now Johannesburg is one of the most dangerous cities on Earth. The world famous Carlton Hotel has been deserted for years.
Rape, murder and other violent crime are out of control and the corrupt, inept police force does nothing about it.
The currency is worth nothing, the so-called government is more concerned with enriching themselves and the average South African is no better off than they were under apartheid.
Moreover, the population, as well as the government, is happy to live in denial, and blame the agony of the present on 'the legacy of apartheid'
Please. That ended thirteen years ago and BILLIONS of dollars of foreign aid have been poured into the country.
They've still managed to f*ck it up.

This is a democracy?
librarian - you are indicative of big-mouthed Americans that have no clue of how the world actually works outside the States.
Babies are not raped on a regular basis in the USA. There is no AIDS epidemic here.
Instances of police brutality are few and far between. Politicians do not rape HIV positive women here.
Oh, and New York was rated the safest big city in the country (and one of the safest worldwide) last year.
Get a clue or keep your mouth shut.
librarian - I have seldom read such sensationalist, denialist, DISHONEST drivel
Even attempting to compare crime stats in the USA with the barbarism and savagery playing out on the streets of South Africa is cynical enough to make you worthy only of contempt.
America has crime -yes- but per capita South Africa's crime is comparable to a war zone. And the nature of that crime is barbaric and random, just as the consistency of that crime betrays the complete ineffectiveness
of their BEE (look it up) police force, many of whom are corrupt and violent - criminals themselves.
I notice on some of those links you posted you had to dig as far back as 2000 to find dirt on American police civil rights violations. Proves my point - instances of police brutality/corruption are few and far between in the USA.
The nature of the violence, corruption and decay in South Africa is EVERYDAY and preys on a much smaller population.
The other thing about the drivel you posted that stands out is its predictability.
Like others that have no reasoning ability, you want to live hundreds of years ago and exhume the historical carcasses of Native Americans and black slaves, even though slavery was abolished more than a century ago.
Whilst we're on the subject of slavery, America might well have practised that abhorrent system many years ago, but let's not forget that the USA was also the first country to abolish slavery, and indeed fought a civil war over some of those very same issues.
Native Americans were primitive savages that refused to adapt, and like all other cultures in history that refused to do so, they fell by the wayside.
The difference is that in the USA they were not annhilated, as is the pattern of history,
they were given land and their historical grievances are addressed even today.
So, my advice to you is to live in the 21st century. It's 2007 now.
mapompana and innocentia - The two of you are examples of what passes for intelligent discourse in the 'New South Africa.'
The only reason the two of you have any kind of employment is because you have black skins. With your levels of intellect, you MIGHT be able to find employment as housekeepers or parking attendants here in the States. Send me your CV's.
Jade 21 - such language! I'm not really a prick, more of an as*hole.
Innocentia - oh, and baby, I'll stop Emailing you if you stop Emailing me. If I told you once, I told you a 1000 times, I'm NOT going to sleep with you, no matter how many times you ask.

A. I am totally amazed that someone is comparing the situation in South Africa to America!!! I moved to the UK 5 years ago from South Africa due to the crime. I was one of the lucky one who was able to get out and show my son that living in fear is NOT NORMAL. Simple things like getting out of your car to open your gate was done with fear. I had to teach my 3yr old son how to open the gates FAST and run to the top of the drive just in case I got carjacked because believe me if I got out of the car they would not only take the car but also the child in it, as has happened many many times. Horrific crimes are committed every minute of every day against blacks as well as whites and very few criminals are every brought to justice. My best friend was shot dead in her car - was anyone ever caught - NO!! Every single person I knew in SA has been a victim of some kind of crime. I was personally caught in the middle of a shoot out at 5.30pm on the way home from work. I have family still there and I worry for them every day. Until the president admits that crime is problem nothing will get done. The police force is under funded as it is in many countries but not to the extent that it is there. Crimes are not being responded to because there are no vehicles for the police to use. And yet the Zulu King has how many new mercedes???? I could go on and on!!

How do I travel from the Days Inn in East Charleston, WV to the Charleston Civic Center via the KRT?

Q. The Days Inn is located at 6400 MacCorkle Ave SE, Charleston WV. How much will it cost?

A. You could probably walk there in 20 minutes. Ask at the hotel desk how long they think it would take.
The bus shouldn't cost much. It would be the lowest fare, because it isn't very far.

What are some decent hotels in downtown historic Chaleston, SC are?
Q. Can anyone recommend some decent hotels in downtown Charleston, South Carolina? Something middle of the road... not slummy, but nothing extravagant. We'd like to be able to walk to the downtown historic area from the hotel.

Thanks!

A. Try looking at Doubletree Suites on Church St. They are in the heart of DT off of Market Street. But FYI... nothing DT is going to be cheap if that is what you were nicely trying to say by nothing extravagant. And you do get what you pay for. There is also a Days Inn and a Best Western on Meeting St that are more economical.

Go to this link and put in your dates to stay and it will pull up all the hotels in the area that you can filter by distance and by price. They have reviews too so you can see what others say about the hotels:

I am planning a short vacation to Las Vegas, any suggestions on what hotel to stay?
Q. A group of friends and I are planning a short vacation to Las Vegas. We are planning to stay for three days and looking for an economic stay in a hotel close to casinos and the main entertainment. Any suggestions, it is my first time going to Las Vegas. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

A. Hate referring you to a competitor, but Living Social Escapes, Travelzoo and LasVegasDeals have great hotel packages. Try googling the words daily, vegas and deals -- you should be able to find lots of good deals popping up. Any off The Strip hotels provide good value. Either behind the Strip on Paradise Road or west of I-15. Restaurants are much cheaper, too. Fremont Street, the old downtown Strip is a fun place to visit and hotels are cheaper and friendlier than Strip casinos. You'll have to drive or taxi to there. Palace Station is just on the other side of the Strip, has good room prices and the buffets with a player card are $4.99 for breakfast, $6.99 for lunch and $9.99 for dinner. Food is good and the value is phenomenal. Gold Coast is on Tropicana west of the Strip and offers pretty good values with lots of restaurants. If you really wanna know what Las Vegas is about, take a tour to Red Rock Canyon or Mt. Charleston. I hardly ever go to the Strip any more, but enjoy these natural beauties almost daily. Have fun!

What is the scent used by the MGM Grand hotel/casino in Las Vegas?

Q. As soon as I walked into the MGM Grand hotel/casino in Las Vegas, I was overcome with a lovely scent. It was especially strong in the lobby. Does anyone know what scent they use, and if it's available to purchase anywhere? I'd love to be able to smell it at home.
ANSWER: I contacted the MGM Grand directly and was told that the hotel lobby aroma is Jasmine & Rose, a custom aroma that was created for the MGM Grand by AromaSys.Inc.

A. Sorry I can't find out but if you go on their website you could email them and ask them though I don't know if they will answer.

Celeberties at MGM Hotel Casino in Las Vegas?
Q. I am taking a trip to las vegas and staying at the mgm hotel casino, could you help tell me if any celeberties own a place at the hotel, thank you so much for your help!

A. You can't "own a place" at the MGM, except for the MGM Signature (which is what I think you mean). The Signature rooms can be bought/owned but still be rented out by the MGM's reservation department as "inventory"....the other option, would be in a "celebrities that own a place at the hotel" catagory might be a restaurant...that could be Wolfgang Puck's restaurant, or Joel Robuchon's.

How do I become a lion trainer at the MGM?
Q. I am curious to know how i could become a lion trainer at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
I would like information like do i need previous experience with animal training or will they train me, do i need to be 21 or older, and if you are someone currently working there or previously worked there did/do you like the job and have you ever gotten attacked or are the lions as sweet as they look?

A. I plan on being an exotic animal trainer, I found a community college in california that has a program for it. Its called Moorpark College. I would go to their site for more information. Can't get much better than an actual animal training degree. Other than that, Experience is always better. Zoology, biology, animal behavior degrees all are applicable. I've heard from seaworld trainers that Child development classes are useful too. As for age, you would have to contact MGM directly. ALL trainers are attacked or hurt at some point in their career. It comes with the territory but most 'attacks' are not severe. Lions are wild animals. They are also individuals with emotions. Any human at some point can get mad and yell at someone they love or trust. Lion's getting angry can result in yelling, and a physical attack. Experience will clue you into when an animal is being pushed over the edge.
Good luck!

Where can I buy tawas crystal or alum in Thailand?

Q. I just need to get some of this since I'm allergic to artificial deodorants. Can anyone tell me where to get them? I'm staying in a Bangkok hotel, thanks.

A. I found it in a Thai Drug store. Not Boots or Central but a small neighborhood store. Alum is called "SAN SOM" (สารสà¹à¸¡) in Thai. It comes as large crystals. I am told it's also available in the Local "wet markets" - but I have never bought it there.

Can someone please help me with the beaches in Phuket?
Q. I would like to visit Thailand. I am interested in a short time in Bangkok (hotel suggestions?) then on to Phuket. I notice there are many different beach areas in Phuket and would like to know which area is the best to stay so I can choose a hotel. I want to be near enough to get to the cultural areas, but far enough away that it is not crowded and crazy (but not completely isolated). Thank you for your help. If you can recommend a hotel here too, that would be great.

A. I always recommend D'Ma Pavilion in Bangkok and Peach Hill Kata in Phuket both mid-range comfortable.Thailand is short on cultural areas and none more so than Phuket, there are a few temples most notably Wat Chalong which is a 20 minute taxi/tuk tuk ride.No doubt there are museums and galleries in bangkok but I,ve never seen any.Culture seems to equate to religion and royal palaces. There's no shortage of either in Bangkok but they're not centralised http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g293916-d306702-Reviews-Ramada_D_MA_Bangkok-Bangkok.html and http://www.agoda.co.uk/asia/thailand/phuket.html?type=1&site_id=1410046&url=http://www.agoda.co.uk/asia/thailand/phuket.html&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&ut

Can a day trip from Bangkok Phuket be nice?
Q. Hi I am planning to travel to Bangkok FourSeasons Hotel for a 6-night stay as I have a complimentary voucher for that :) I am not sure if this is too much for Bangkok. I am thinking of a daytrip to Phuket. Is that a good idea. I love Phuket from what I heared but wonder if this is a good idea. What do you guys think?

A. Phuket is near the bottom end of Thailand. A bus ride takes a long time but flying doesn't take that long. But will it be worth the expense to you for a few hours in Phuket?

Could you take 3 nights in a hotel in Bangkok - then go to Phuket - spend a week there and return to finish off another 3 nights in Bangkok? You can ask the hotel if they will split the free room voucher. Don't forget that even in Bangkok it is nice and warm, you could even get a little tan started if you can find some areas not in the shade.

Or, plan "B" if you are tapped for money and want a cheap beach you may head for Jomtien. You can take a bus to Jomtien/Pattaya area for under 120 baht. Hotels with air are cheaper than Phuket and Bangkok. Beach is not as good as Phuket of course but money wise it is a bargain!

Up to you.

What are some of the Travelocity top secret hotels in Miami?

Q. It doesn't have to be miami but has anyone been upset by a hotel chosen for them?

A. Delano Hotel

Are there any hotels near GO train stations on the Lakeshore line?
Q. My dad wants to go to The Ex. There is a GO station right outside of the Ex grounds on the Lakeshore Line. Are there any hotels near train stations on this line outside of Toronto, maybe in Mississauga or Oakville?
We've stayed downtown before and were looking for something different.

A. To my knowledge, I couldn't find any hotels that are outside of Toronto - that is along the Lakeshore West train line - but all I know that there is a Super 8 Hotel in Ajax, which is south of the Ajax GO station, but it's within walking distance. Information for that hotel can be founded here: http://www.super8.com/Super8/control/Booking/property_info?propertyId=13920

As for hotels in downtown Toronto, the only hotels that I know out of my head are:

- Westin Harbour Castle Toronto (http://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=1084 - this hotel is overlooking Lake Ontario)
- Fairmont Royal York Hotel (its located outside of Union Station)

these two hotels are conveniently located near Exhibition Place, but they are within distance by public transit. Further more hotels can be founded here:
http://www.expedia.ca/Exhibition-Place-Hotels.0-l6072455-0.Travel-Guide-Filter-Hotels

It's also even cheaper if you book through the following websites:

http://www.expedia.ca
http://www.hotels.ca

Based on your recent comment, there's some hotels near the Oakville GO station:

1) Holiday Inn Hotel Oakville Centre:
590 Argus Road, Oakville, Ontario.
Telephone:+1-905-842-5000 or toll-free at 1-877-660-8550.

That hotel is located near the Oakville GO station - but within walking distance.
Source: http://www.holidayinn.com/hotels/us/en/oakville/yyzok/hoteldetail

2) Monty Carlo Inn Oakville East:
374 South Service Road, Oakville, Ontario.
Telephone: +1-905-849-9500 or toll-free at 1-877-849-9500
This hotel is also within walking distance from the Oakville GO station. Full information can be founded here:
http://www.montecarloinns.com/oakvillesuites.html?reloaded=true

As for Mississauga, all I can find is some hotels/inns near the Port Credit GO Station:

1) Ports Hotel located at 30 Port Street east, Mississauga, Ontario:
http://www.portshotel.ca/
Telephone number: +1-905-274-7390

2) The Waterside inn located at 15 Stavebank Road South, Mississauga, Ontario:
http://www.watersideinn.ca/
Telephone number: +1-905-891-7770 or toll-free at 1-877-264-7770.

Both of these hotels are located near the Port Credit GO station - within walking distance. I hope the updated information clarifies you.

If you prefer, Travelocity offers a special promotion called "Top Secret Hotels" - in which you can save up to 45% off on top hotels. The hotel name will only be revealed - after you book online. Information can be founded here:

I hope this helps.

Have you worked for a secret shopper company?
Q. I am interested in some of the secret shopper employment opportunities, but am unsure whether or not they are legit. Shopper Systems is always advertising. Does anyone have any info on this company or others to recommend?

A. I have done secret shopping since 1996 and normally new shoppers are recruited through word of mouth through other shoppers, or you find their website and contact them directly. Most ads you see are just out for your money

I don't know the company you are talking as I have no experience with them, about but it's very easy to tell a legitimate opportunity from a scam. Legitimate mystery shopping companies will never make you pay any money to join or register, or make you pay any other fees to them. Legitimate mystery shopping companies will never send you checks or money orders in advance to conduct a shop nor will they ever ask you to wire money through Western Union or Moneygram. Legitimate mystery shopping companies will never promise big bucks - a real shop pays $5-10 per shop on average -- AND you are spending your own money on the shop and not getting reimbursed until 30 days later. Even if you are asked to spend up to $100 on a meal for 4, or $250 for a night in a 5-star hotel, you are paying for that out of your own pocket and not reimbursed until 30 days after you have submitted your evaluation form and receipts. You are also lucky to get more than 1 assignment a month. While they might list more, most agencies have hundreds if not thousands of registered shoppers and if you are not one of the first to sign up when they post a new assignment, you aren't going to get it

Legitimate companies are almost all members of the MSPA
http://www.mysteryshop.org/searchmspa/search.php
ignore the top part and scroll down to the search function. Under Locations/Region Served by Company, enter your country then State and you'll find a list of companies who conduct mystery shops in your state. You then need to contact each of those companies directly to see if they are accepting new shoppers. Many agencies these days are not accepting new shoppers as they already have many more shoppers than they have assignments. In this economy there are fewer companies who are conducting mystery shops as it's very expensive for a company to do so. So you might have to contact 10-20 companies to find even one that is accepting new shoppers. You will then have to go through training (unpaid) before you will be sent out on any assignment. The training teaches you how to conduct a mystery shop, how to fill out their evaluation forms, how to submit your evaluation, what to do if you are suspected by store staff of being a mystery shopper, what to do if you run into a problem, etc

Cipriani or Danieli Hotel ?
Q. I stayed in Cipriani before. It was awesome. On september i'm planning to visit Venice again. I checked for a new place on web though i always have Cipriani on my mind. But I saw the lobby of Hotel Danieli ,it was....awesome, and it distracted me about hotel choice. Which one i shall choose ? Cipriani or Danieli.

How are the prices comparing to Cipriani ?
Which one would worth to money that i will pay ?

And how to say, " So sorry madam, i have an appointment in the morning. I might not be able to join your invitation. " in Italian.

Thanks !

A. Translation is: Mi perdoni signora, ma ho gia´ un appuntamento alla mattina e probabilmente non posso venire.

Danieli is slightly more expensive than Cipriani and both extremely worth the money. As you have been to C: already then you need to try Danieli for sure.

what should I do about a travel agency that didn't book a hotel?

Q. About a month ago I called a travel agency to book hotel and airline tickets. I received a confirmation for the airline but not the hotel. After I called her the travel agent said she would take care of it we do have reservations. I've been calling her for over a week and she is not returning my calls. I called the hotel and they are all booked with no reservations under my name. What rights do I have.? What is my next step?

A. Did they charge your credit card for both or just the airfare? If they airfare part is ok, either cancel the whole thing and dispute the credit card charge, or keep the airfare part and book the rest yourself. Obviously if that hotel is booked you need to find another one ASAP, probably on your own... then go to the BBB website and file a complaint there. Main thing is to get your trip booked. Travel companies are known for being idiots so do what you have to do. But really there's no reason to use travel agencies anymore.

How to book hotels in Vietnam?
Q. Please kindly help me! I would like to know a website which I can book hotels in Vietnam freely. Many thanks.

A. You can book hotels at several websites such as asiarooms, agoda or hotels-in-vietnam. However, the booking fees are various among sites. Please notice the hidden fees before you book.
Otherwise, you can send your request to hotels using the recommended one (http://www.vietnamhotels.org.vn/). I like this website because I can get rates from hotels directly!

Hope it helps!

Can I check in to the hotel at 1 am, and what date should I fill out when I book the hotel?
Q. I am arriving on Dec 5th, at 1 am, when I book hotel what date should my checking in time be? And if I book the hotel online should I go to front desk to check out or I can just leave?

A. Every hotel has its fixed check out and check in time, and they are all 11 am - 12 noon, and 2 or 3 pm, that is the first "day" you occupy a room starts at 2 or 3 pm and lasts until 11 am - 12 noon the next day. The few hours after 12 noon is reserved for housekeeping to clean up the room. No hotel would count 1 am of any day as the check in date because how many guests would check out at 10-11 pm. Your check in date would have to be December 4th.

That said if the hotel has a lot of empty rooms during your stay, you can always negotiate with the hotel for an early check in, that is even though you are supposed to be checking in December 5 at 2 pm, the hotel could let you go into your room 13 hours earlier. No matter what you must inform the hotel of your arrival time because as I said check in times are basically all in the early afternoon and if the guest does not show up by 9-10pm, many hotels would assume it as a no show and might give the room up to other walk in customers.
