Is it cheaper to get a hotel now or wait and can we book it now?

Q. My friends and I are planning on going to Panama City in Florida for Spring Break. I was looking at hotel prices last night and they are really expensive so I was just wondering would it be cheaper to wait closer to our spring break and they would have better deals or just go ahead book and pay now? Also, to beat the chance of not getting a room at all can we book it now or do we have to pay when we book the room?

A. It's a BIG false belief that some websites have set down that "book last minute as you will get a deal!" That's BS. For spring break, you are booking absolute peak time. It's harder / more expensive to get a room in March than the 4th of July.

Waiting is 100% going to cost more. Also, if you are going to Panama City Beach and you are college students, remember - the place LACKS public transportation at night. LOCATION MATTERS. You need to be on Thomas Drive by Club La Vela & Spinnaker or don't even go. You cannot walk from far west properties - that's why they are way cheaper.

Consider the Summit, Gulfcrest, Boardwalk (condos not hotel) or Laketown Wharf. Hotel rooms actually are super duper lame compared to condos. Condos rock as you have a kitchen (saves you money on food) and room to "pregame" or afterbar in.

PCB is very spread out. You have dirt cheap properties down by Sharky's (Sharky's goes off certain nights as it is on the Panamaniac card) but overall, it's Spinnaker, Harpoon Harry's, and of course the infamous Club La Vela. The condos I mentioned you can walk to these clubs.

If you can afford it, book the Summit Condos.

What is the price of a wedding in Edinburgh, Scotland?
Q. I am an American woman who just got engaged to a Scot. We are planning to wed in Spring or early Summer of next year (yes I know that's soon!). What is a reasonable budget for a wedding in Edinburgh? Specifically, what should we expect to pay for a nice venue for about 100 people? We are trying to set a budget, and I don't know where to start. Is there a place where I can compare prices of hotels and venues? Thanks in advance for your help!

A. Depends on where you want to get married. One of my friend's friend got married in a castle in Scotland.

Here are some castles that have weddings:

Information on how to get married in Scotland (and has information about approved venues for civil ceremonies):

Just remember that since Scotland uses the British pound so everything is twice as expensive there than in the US (because of our yucky exchange rate).

For 100 guests, I would allocate at least $20,000 for the wedding (again, because everything is twice as expensive there than in the US).

Enjoy your wedding!

Does anyone have a list for cheapest hotels in las vegas?
Q. Going to Vegas, and im looking for the cheapest Hotels to compare prices =) Does anyone know of any?

A. Of the cheap Vegas hotels one of my favorites is El Cortez, in downtown Vegas, because they have nice large rooms and they offer decent facilities, more than most 'cheap' Vegas hotels. Equally my favorite is Gold Coast, just by the Rio, nicely appointed rooms (bathroom is a little small but nothing wrong with it), nice free shuttle service to mi Strip and of course the convenience of being next to the Rio if you want a good buffet, for example.

Slightly off Strip but walkable to the Strip is Tuscany Suites; the suites are very large but they did a bit of updating. THey also have a large gym but it's basic and quite busy.

Palace Station is cheap but only if you book their standard rooms, which are quite depressing I'd say; their remodeled rooms are nice but quite smoke-filled, for some reason. Imperial palace is depressing, Circus Circus is mostly for families and not too comfortable in terms of bed mattresses (although the rooms are very clean). Excalibur is cheap as long as you book their basic rooms, which are very basic. Golden Gate downtown is cheap and very nice, though the rooms are small and so are the bathrooms.
