If I want to see a celebrity at a TIFF movie gala, will they be there?

Q. does a gala at the toronto intl film fest mean the celebs will be there from the movie, or is it just the 1st showing?

also when they do the whole red carpet walk thing, at roy thompson...can the crowd see? them

thx!

A. Since all films on the TIFF schedule are open to the general public, it is easy for fans to line the theatre entrances. The theatres with major gala presentations like Roy Thompson Hall, the Elgin Theatre, and the Ryerson Theatre have crowd barriers which line the carpet. Spectators are allowed to gather behind the crowd barriers and take pictures of the stars as they speak to reporters and pose for pictures for the media. They usually come over and sign autographs, shake hand with fans, and pose for pictures if time permits.

I've seen fans staking out celebrity hotspots in Torontoâs Yorkville neighbourhood, like upscale hotels and pricey restaurants. I live right here in Yorkville so I get to see them everyday.

What was the significance of wheel of fortune and AIDS in 1960.?
Q. Does anybody know the significance of wheel of fortune and AIDS in 1960. I have a research project and I really can not find out why. If you only know one, it would be great if you could just let me know one. Thanks.
Thank you soo much for that answer. I had a feeling I had the wrong date because I didn't find anything. But thank you again.

A. Hardly Significant but perhaps note worthy - - - and where you got 1960 is weird, AIDS didn;t rear its ugly head until the 1980 s..

But the original Letters Girl on Wheel of Fortune is an Evangelical CHristian and made a big noise about actor Rock Hudson 'accepting' Christ as if every homosexual in AMerica has supposedly rejected Christ and religion in General.

http://www.prayermagazine.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=782:ex-wheel-of-fortune-host-susan-stafford-reveals-how-rock-hudson-received-christ-just-hours-before-he-died-from-complications-from-aids&catid=19:britian-and-beyond&Itemid=26
""Susan Stafford, the original hostess of Wheel of Fortune, has revealed how she was present when a Catholic priest led Rock Hudson in the "sinner's prayer" to receive Jesus Christ into his life just hours before his death aged 59 on Oct. 2, 1985 of complications from AIDS.
Stafford, who preceded Vanna White on the popular game show, revealed the inside story of Rock Hudson's final hours in an exclusive interview with me on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at the 17th Annual Movieguide® Faith and Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

"Yes, it is true that Rock Hudson accepted Jesus Christ on his deathbed," she said. "The last few hours with Rock Hudson were more than interesting because you see Shirley and Pat Boone had been up there with Gavin and Patty McLeod before them. He had a nurse taking care of him whose name was Toni. I never met Toni as she was on a different shift than my comings and goings at 'The Castle', which was the name we called Rock's home in Beverly Hills.

"Because he was dying of AIDS, there was an unbelievable fear of AIDS at that time."

She worked with leprosy patients

Susan, a born-again Christian who had left the popular game show in 1982, went on to say, "I had just come back from working with former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop with leprosy patients in India, so AIDS was not as frightening to me as it would be to most Americans at that time."

Susan said that friends had invited her to the house to assist Rock Hudson because she they knew she had no fear of AIDS.

She revealed that she knew that Rock Hudson had been raised a Roman Catholic and so she asked him hours before his death if he would like to see a priest. He said he would and so it was arranged for Fr. Terrance A. Sweeney, a five-time Emmy Award winning producer, an ex-Jesuit priest who was ordained to the priesthood on June 15, 1973, to come to his home.

"Rock and myself had a wonderful conversation and then, after the priest arrived, Rock, in a prayer with Fr. Sweeney, accepted our Lord Jesus Christ in his life and then he died shortly afterwards in his own bed on the second floor of the house."

Susan Stafford said she later conducted Rock Hudson's funeral and actress Morgan Fairchild was quoted as saying, "Rock Hudson's death gave AIDS a face."

Susan then said, "After his death, I went back home, which is Kansas City, Missouri, and I talked to people there about Rock Hudson. I was aware that in Missouri, there was a lot of judgment, but the Lord says very clearly that unconditional love, Agape love, is the clearest most perfect love and He died for us. So that means he accepts all of me and all of them because that's His commandment that we love one another.

"That's what I would say anybody who comes to you who's gay, homosexual, has HIV/AIDS, you just love them up. That's what they need. If we don't love each other and instead just keep on judging everybody, we're not going to have any friends left."

Susan Stafford concluded by saying, "Rock Hudson was a real gentleman and accepted his illness with a great sense of humor despite being in a lot of pain."

Peace

Any places in Boston where i can temporarily leave my cat while moving?

Q. I'm planning moving to Boston but I can't have my cat with me while moving(hotel policies), I wanted to know if there are any good places in Boston where I can leave my cat for from 2 weeks to a month(while selecting a house, moving in etc.).
I'm also considering staying at a hotel that allows pets but I'm not familiar with them, are pet friendly hotels much different from regular hotels?

A. Pet-friendly hotels are hotels that allow pets. There is an extra charge for a pet.
If the pet is a dog, you cannot leave it alone in the room, but that might not be the case if the pet is a cat.

Vets will board cats.
And there are non-vet boarding places too. Some of them think you must want to spend a lot of money on your cat, as they are expensive and quite "chichi". Where I live (not in Boston) we have both reasonably priced places and expensive places to board your cat.
Google is your best friend.
This is the first one that came up when I googled "cat boarding Boston"

Anyone know of any hotels in Chicago where I can bring my pit bull?
Q. I have to go to my grandpa's funeral in Chicago early Wednesday morning and need a pet friendly hotel that allows pit bulls. Mine is a 7 month old pup, about 40 lbs and I have been looking and every place I call says they do not allow pits. I would board her but I really do not want to leave her stuck in a kennel at the vets office for 7 days.

A. La Quinta Inns are pet-friendly, usually for dogs up to 50 pounds, though according to their website you have to contact the individual hotel to discuss breed restrictions.

Honestly, though, boarding her at either the vet or a boarding facility might be best. You'll undoubtedly be spending a lot of time with family, maybe eating out, going to the services, etc., and your dog might not like being left all alone in the hotel room. At least at a boarding facility she'd be around other people and animals.

How to drive 2 cats cross country?
Q. Hi, I'm going from the west coast to the east coast with our two adult cats. Any tips on managing the
crying
litter box
pet-friendly hotels
etc???

We are taking them in a 4dr sedan, planning about 7 days to make the drive. Any advice or warnings is appreciated! Thanks!

A. I took the same trip but with a cat and a dog. Las Vegas to Maryland. Let me tell you it wasn't easy! But put the little box in a box so they won't get the litter on the floor or seats. If possible put the litter box in the trunk and fold down one of the back seats so they can have some privacy and that the smell doesn't knock you out. I've notice with the cat I have right now he loves to ride BUT wants to be in my lap. Sometimes I have to confine him to his pet carrier.

Check with the pet stores, they have a water bottle (it looks like its for a rabbit) but its for cats and dogs, that way you won't have to worry about spilling the water everywhere.

As far as hotels, its easier with a cat then it is with a dog. I would look towards Motels rather than Hotels or Hotels that room doors are outside. That way if you have to sneak them in no one will see you.

Hope this helps! Have a safe trip!

Where is the best golf vacation you have been on?

Q. I'm looking at Jamacia anyone been there?

A. One of Jamaica's most serious golf locations is the Tryall Golf Club, about an hour west of Montego Bay. Founded by Texans in the 1950s, the resort is a collection of upscale homes owned by North Americans and Europeans. Tryall is a private resort area, and many golfers are also renters or owners of the resort's villas. If you opt out of staying at Tryall, a visit to their course may be arranged through hotel concierges. Staying at Round Hill Hotel, a small upscale hotel just east of Tryall, increases the ease with which such a visit can be arranged.

golf at Negril Hills Golf Club is a rare and novel experience, as you travel up and down the elevated tees to the valley fairways, twisting and turning around the guango trees.

Some of the best golf on the northern coast of Jamaica is at the Sandals Golf and Country Club. This golf area, formerly known as the Upton Country Club, was in a sad state of disrepair until about two years ago, when Sandals purchased and revamped the area.

Manchester Club is home to the Caribbean's oldest golf course. This golfer's treasure is found in the city of Mandeville on Jamaica's South Coast. Only nine holes, it is set in luxurious rolling hills and is worth a visit for aficionados.

Other resorts in Jamaica, such as Half Moon and Ironshore in Ocho Rios, Wyndham Rose Hall (also known as the"White Witch" course), Breezes, and Sandals, include challenging and fun courses and cater to the golfer with a family. These resorts are all-inclusive and will include, among other things, water-sports, meals, and spa time for family members less interested in golf.

Golfing on the island of Jamaica is a relaxed activity that generally does not require reservations or advanced booking. Making an impromptu decision to hit the links should be easy and can help open your leisure-activity options.

What to do or see in Southern California? Anaheim/San Diego areas?
Q. My brother and I will be traveling the first part of June. We will stay with relatives in the Anaheim/Riverside/Corona area.

A. From Pacific Beach and the Gaslamp Quarter to SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo, experiencing the highlights of America's fittest city will keep you going from sunrise to sunset.

Where the locals go: George's at the Cove is known for its views and seasonal foods. Sink into a Niman Ranch pork chop and save room for the Chino Farms carrot cake.

Break the bank brunch: The Victorian-era Hotel del Coronado, known simply as the "Del," is the perfect Sunday splurge. If you miss brunch in the Crown Room, catch a sunset at the Palm Court.

Local flavor: San Diego is 16 miles from the Mexican border, so it's no surprise that fish tacos and tequila are firmly rooted in the local surf scene. Get your tacos to-go at Rubios, El Zarape, or Las Olas then make a dash for the beach.

Get out of dodge: The 600,000-acre Anza Borrego Desert is the biggest state park in California. Fuel up for a desert trek or recover afterwards at Julian, a mountain town renowned for its apple pies.

You belong in the zoo: Balboa Park is San Diego's 1200-acre urban cultural oasis. Mill around its Spanish-Colonial buildings, museums, and gardens, and don't miss the world-famous San Diego Zoo.

Did we mention it's free?: Public beaches like the scenic, off-the-beaten-path Windansea Beach are considered some of the best surfing spots in town. Combine hiking and swimming at the peaceful Torrey Pines State Beach, or head south to tan au natural at Black's Beach.

Local secret: Whether you go to the shows or take acting classes, the acclaimed La Jolla Playhouse, located on the UCSD campus, is one of the best community theaters in the country. (Nominated for Travelocity's Local Secrets, Big Finds award.)

Dress code: In this beach locale, there is no reason to pack a coat and tie--flip-flops are in vogue year-round.

Editor's favorite watering hole: The Bitter End is the go-to club in the Gaslamp. Choose from almost 20 martinis, like the Purple Orchid, and then make your way to The Underground to dance them off.

Oh, the places you'll go!: Dr. Seuss made San Diego his home, and now some of his collection is at the UCSD Mandeville Special Collections Library.

Anaheim, CA: More Than Just a Mouse
With everything from valiant knights in armor to old-time cowboy towns, there's more to Anaheim than you think.

While known primarily as the home of a certain famous mouse, Anaheim dishes up a smorgasbord of family-friendly activities. Check out Medieval Times, the original "dinner and a show" that harkens back to a time when valiant knights battled for their kingdom's honor. Dig into a traditional royal feast, and wield a mighty turkey leg to cheer for your team in a tournament of games. This contest begins with a joust atop Andalusian stallions, and draws to a dramatic finish with swords and maces.

Jump forward to the time of California's Gold Rush at Knott's Berry Farm, an amusement park set on what used to be 160 acres of berry farmland with an on-site fried chicken restaurant. (Both tasty jam and fried chicken are still served up on the park's grounds.) Wander through Ghost Town, a tribute to California's 1880s boom--complete with costumed cowboys, a log flute ride, stagecoaches, and panning for real gold. After, take a whirl on the famed "Montezuma's Revenge" roller coaster in Fiesta Village, and cool off on the park's Bigfoot Rapids ride.

Where shall I go on holiday in Normandy?

Q. I want to go to Normandy but still unsure where, does anyone know of a good company to use?

A. The area around Honfleur, Deauville and Trouville is quite lovely. As to company what kind do you mean? Travel agent? Hotel? Or other kind?

Are there any websites to help me organize a self guided tour of Normandy?
Q. I speak French (as a 2nd language) and would be renting a car. I know the names of some of the towns (St. Lo, St. Mere Eglise, etc.). If you know of a particularly good museum/place to visit, you can mention it. Any cheap hotels you can suggest would also be appreciated. Merci!
Yes, I am interested in D-Day (Jour D'embarkement), WW2 but would also enjoy castles, shopping as well.

A. There are dozens of things to visit, and all are worth seeing. Normandy is a beautiful region of France. You have, on the coast, all the monuments and museums dedicated to World War II, for example. The small village of Honfleur is absolutely delightful. As are the casino towns of Deauville and Trouville. Lisieux to visit the church, it's the town of Saint Theresa. The artist Monet's garden at Giverny. Le Havre, Etretat, Cherbourg, Caen, in the upper part. Rouen & Evreux and their cathedrals., The Mont Saint Michel, Alençon and Saint Lo in the lower part. And these are just the main towns. The beaches are also fantastic.
There are quite a few chateaux and manor houses in Normandy, but most are privately owned, or have been turned into hotels! (search the site that says patrimoine).
You could spend weeks and not have enough time to see everything
And yes, there are quite a few websites you can visit, besides the one given you in Jean Mic's answer,
Here is a list with some of the main sites:
http://www.normandie-tourisme.fr/normandy-tourism-109-2.html
http://www.le-havre-tourism.com/
http://sp.lisieux-tourisme.com/
http://www.cotentin-tourisme.com/
http://www.ot-montsaintmichel.com/histoire_gb.htm
http://www.normandie.visite.org/EN/patrimoine-_0_3_1.html
For hotels. I recommend the following site:
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/
It's an international travel site, with excellent comments from travelers

Enjoy your trip!

How much money should I bring for my trip?
Q. I am traveling to Paris, Normandy, and London. Excluding all hotel and airline fees (so only for food, metro, and souvenirs) .How much should i bring? I will only be there for about 8 or 9 days.

A. Well, you picked the most expensive places to visit. Check the Euro rates online, but I would bring no less than a 1000$.

A. well it has a indoor pool and 360-degree views of the city and it has spa's when you just wanna relax it has a bar and restaurant and jacuzzi. Rooms have plush feather beds, multi-line telephones with voice mail, and Plasma TVs. Suites include balconies, steam showers, and surround-sound stereo systems. The duplex penthouse starts at USD 5000 with a jacuzzi, home office, fireplace, and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Internet Access, Computer Facilities, Whirlpool, Wifi, Bar, Pets Allowed, Safe Deposit, Non-Smoking_rooms, Restaurant, Laundry Service, 24-Hour Room Service, Iron, Swimming Pool, Parking, Fitness Club, Business Facilities

so you would definitely enjoy that much because there's more to do there.

How much does it cost to live in a hotel in New York for a month?
Q. I just watched Kourtney and Kim take New York season 2 ep 1 haha and i was just wondering cuz they were staying at gansevoort new york. so how much does that cost? to live in hotels like that in New York for about a month?????

A. All different budgets and all different qualities of hotel but in Manhattan, or example, plan on getting a break if you can pay up front for the whole month so say, $4,00-$5,000. That's just for the room. Nothing else included in a pretty nice place. You could get a cheaper place that would certainly give you a rate of around $100 a night for 30 nights ($3,000) but you wouldn't want to stay any place cheaper.

Spanish! Help!- How do you write was in spanish without repeating este all the time?

Q. For example when I write was in a spanish sentence do I have to keep repeating este in the sentence I do not think this is right!
Example 1- Mi estudia en el hotel este muy mal.
Example 2- Cuando llege en el hotel la recepcioniste este grosero.
I feel it is wrong because I keep writing este in my paper

A. I think you are misunderstanding the meaning of "este",
For those examples, you would be using the past imperfect tense.
Ex.1) Mi estudia en el hotel era muy mal.
Ex.2) Cuando llegue en el hotel, la recepcionista estaba grosero.

what are my rights if there is theft in my hotel room?
Q. I recently stayed in a hotel in LA where two necklaces were stolen. I filed a report and just heard from the head of security today that they didn't find anything. What can be done now?

A. Did you call the police? Or just the hotel security. Without an actual police report, you don't have a case. Sorry but you are SOL. Even if you report it to the police now, it's too late. You should have done it immediately when it happened. The cops will not waste their time looking for your jewelry after the fact.

What could a hotel staff member do to impress you?

Q. I work at a hotel and I'm trying to think of creative ways to impress guests.

If you were staying at a hotel, what would impress you or make you say WOW, i never would have expected that!

Or just about anything that you'd wish a hotel would do for you to anticipate your arrival.

A. Simple, normal expected things would impress me... not the fresh flowers, fruit, wine , cheese and sweets you find in luxury places. A desk clerk that is neat, professionally dressed, and greets you with a smile and perhaps offers you a mini map of the city if you are a new visitor. I am impressed with a desk clerk who greets me by name. I am always impressed with a desk clerk who explains where my room is and even draws a rough map instead of giving me a key and letting me fend for myself. I am impressed by a desk clerk who takes the time to answer my questions whether they are about a nearby restaurant or something similar. Although I am able to carry my bags, it is always nice to have someone offer to do that if I need help. I am impressed with neat and clean hallways and common areas. I am impressed with a spotless, quiet room that does not smell of smoke. In the room, it is always good to have a map of the area, a list of all the nearby restaurants and scenic attractions with their addresses and hours. If the room has a little coffee maker, a tiny ice box and a microwave and even an iron and ironing board, I am thrilled, but obviously these are expensive items to put in every room. Although little shampoos and lotions are nice, they are not a necessity. A spotless bathroom and bedroom are. Sometimes, it is great to go into the hotel common area and relax over free cup of coffee or tea in the morning. Having a desk clerk ask me when I come down the next morning or I am going out that night whether my room was OK and if there was anything more I needed pampers me a lot and is appreciated. In all, the desk clerk to a great extent, determines whether or not I am impressed with the hotel. Have stayed in some simple hotels and have been pleased and have stayed in some plus hotels and have not wanted to return. A new hotel patron can come back time after time or recommend the hotel to others if it is a pleasant place to stay. My comments would be to make my stay similar to that of a special friend of yours staying for a day or two, not a stranger who is handed a key and someone at the front desk points him toward his room all the time chatting on the phone with a friend.

What is the best hotel on the plaza in Kansas City?
Q. I am planning a hotel to KC and I want to stay on the plaza. I need to find the best hotel on the plaza.

A. There are many terrific hotels on the Plaza, however, if I were you, I would check out The Raphael. It is on Ward Parkway on the Plaza and features world-class amenities. It's a wonderful place and where I would want to stay on the Plaza!

A review I found says:
"Voted one of the World*s Best Places to Stay by Conde Nast*s Traveler, this one of a kind boutique hotel is patterned after Europe*s finest small hotels. The Raphael is designed to offer a uniquely Kansas City experience, combining the intimacy and charm of a locally significant landmark with highly individualized service. Originally constructed in 1927 as the Villa Serena Apartments, the building was transformed into the Raphael Hotel in 1975 following a renovation that faithfully preserved historically significant features while providing for the needs of contemporary travelers. The hotel features 88 suites and 35 guest rooms furnished in traditional styles. Amenities include room service, valet service, personal refrigerators with refreshment cabinets, two telephones, complimentary high-speed Internet, coffee makers, remote control cable television, granite sinks and vanities and state-of-the-art safes..."

Hope this helps! Best wishes!

How much is a train ticket from Veneto to the heart of Venice?

Q. My hotel in Veneto is 7 minutes walking from the train station, but I am trying to figure out if it would be easier and/or cheaper to book a Venice hotel, rather than go back and forth.

A. It would depend where you are coming from. Generally it is a fairly good idea to stay outside Venice and travel into Venice by train if you would like to save money. It also is very easy to do.

Some sites that might offer help on Venice in general and the train costs are:
www.trenitalia.it

Early transportation from Venice hotel to airport?
Q. I am visiting Venice and staying near the Rialto Bridge. My flight back home is at 6:30am. Are there taxis that can take me to the airport or do I need to take a vaporetto? Do vaporettos even run as early as 3:30am (when I should leave for the international flight)?

Will I need to go to the train station and take the train to the airport? I will be exhausted so I am OK with paying more for the quickest way to get to the airport.

Thanks!

A. The earliest bus (#35) leaves Piazzale Roma about 5:00 and arrives at the airport at about 5:20. As indicated at the bottom of the schedules page it leaves from the D2 stop: http://www.atvo.it/orari/pdf_airport/mpolovenezia.pdf

Your best bet is a taxi from Piazzale Roma to the airport. It takes about 20 minutes like the bus.

There is an Alilaguna boat on the Blu line that leaves from the San Marco stop at 3:40 am and arrives at the airport at approximately 5 am. The schedule is here: http://www.alilaguna.it/?funzione=120&idstazione0=2&idstazione1=5&fascia=5&x=22&y=15 The boats from the Rialto stop to the airport don't run that early.

Personally, I would go with the taxi from Piazzale Roma.

Wondering how to determine Travelocity "Top Secret Hotel"?

Q. Specifically, the "Top Secret Hotel" I want in Reno is a great price, but the amenities listed do not match any of the hotels they offer. Does this mean that it is a completely different hotel, or do they do this as a smokescreen?

Curious because I want to stay at one of the hotels they list.
Users with experience with Travelocity "Top Secret" Hotels please. Thank you.

A. Travelocity is making people book hotels without telling them what hotel they're getting? Wow.

I've been to Reno 4 or 5 times. Silver Legacy and Eldorado are the two nicest hotels. They've also got Cal Neva, Harrah's, Circus Circus, Fitzgeralds on the "strip" (Virginia Street).

My guess is they're either trying to stick you into the Sands, which is really old and run down... or the Atlantis or Peppermill, which are way off the main strip, or somewhere in Sparks.

I recall when I was researching a trip to Reno once, many travel agencies were advertising John Ascuaga's Nugget (which is in Sparks) as being in Reno.

Anyway, I'd pass on the "mystery hotel" and check Orbitz, Expedia, Hotwire, and Kayak.com.

This is a good birthday present for my boyfriend of a year?
Q. I have found a "top secret hotel" on a website, a 5* hotel for one night near covert garden with a pool and spa. check in is at 3pm. i also want to go on the london eye. all together it will cost about £146. is this a good pressie? what do check in times mean? thank you x

A. its a perfect gift. check in times are when you check in the hotel!

What are some of the Travelocity top secret hotels in Miami?
Q. It doesn't have to be miami but has anyone been upset by a hotel chosen for them?

how much do las vegas hotels put a hold on your credit card for?

Q. Does anyone know how much las vegas hotels put a hold on your credit card for? Im going to be staying for about 2 days and the rooms i found are only $30 per night.

A. $30

Is the water coming out of Las Vegas hotels cold?
Q. I was wondering how cold is the cold water that comes out of Las Vegas Hotels?

Is it warm because it's warm there?

A. You are correct. The water from the faucet is not very cold, rather it is warm from the cold side. That and the fact that it has an awful taste and a brownish color is normal, I am afraid. That is why water filter systems are areal big here in Vegas.

Can you use a resort credit for a Las Vegas hotel towards your nightly room rate?
Q. I have a resort credit of $100 for a Las Vegas Hotel. If I don't charge anything to the room, can I use the credit towards the room rate when I check out/ pay?

A. No - resort credits are used towards anything that can be charged to your room but cannot be used towards room rates

Taking a trip to Western Ireland....any helpful tips?
Q. My friend and I are taking a holiday to Western Ireland somtime in July. We're flying into Shannon, and after that, it's up in the air. I was wondering if there were any specific places you'd recommend, any clean, cheap hotels that give a more cultural feel and less commercial feel, tips for traveling from the U.S. to Ireland, etc. My friend has gone before, so she knows a lot about where she wants to go, but I want to make sure I get the full experience. Thanks!

A. First off, don't stay in a hotel, stay in a B&B instead - that's Bed and Breakfast. These are usually family-run, very clean, and because the owners are locals, they'll have the inside track on what's going on locally.

The best places in the west of Ireland are only really accessible by car, so you'll have to budget for that. Be advised that petrol is currently â¬1.26 per litre in many places, and there are about 3.5 litres to a gallon. You can pay by credit card (visa and mastercard) in most places. You will need to be able to drive a stick shift car, automatic cars are few and far between here. Also, we drive on the left, the steering wheel is on the right, and we have lots of roundabouts. Here in Ireland you don't stop on roundabouts.

If you've never been before, you need to be prepared for very changeable weather. Bring a rainjacket, waterproof shoes and a light scarf. Dress in layers, even summers can be nippy in full sun. If you find you need to get more things, it's easy enough to get them cheaply in shops like Dunnes or Penny's. I see so many Americans going around with sniffles and runny noses because nobody told them to bring and wear a scarf, and that summer in Ireland is not like summer at home.

I like the Burren and the coast of Clare, but it's windy and a bit touristy in summer. However, if you get a clear and sunny day, you really can see for miles, and the views over the Aran Islands are fantastic. I also like Cork and Kerry in the south-west, and would recommend a day trip out to some of the islands there. If you are driving, go over the Healy pass on the Beara Peninsula, and make sure you have your camera with you! It is featured in a wonderful story by Ben Kiely called The Dogs of the Great Glen. You could also visit Galway city, and of course Connemara, which is beautiful. If you are planning to go walking in the countryside there, be careful because of bogs and things ... if you're heading up the mountains, fair play to you, get a local guide.

If you're in County Limerick, go to Lough Gur and the Stone Circle at Grange. Adare is nice, but not as nice as those places!

Have a great time.

Where are rusian people seek for information about travel?

Q. Where they read hotel reviews, trip reviews? Are there any local popular websites?

A. my sister in law travels from russia yearly. she cares little, as i think most russians would, about a hotel review. do you go to seville spain to speak about a nice hotel? or a funny toilet? (i hear americans speaking ALWAYS about toilets??!?) trip reviews also seem to not interest her. i think she is typical of russians. yes, asking the local tour operator is the best way.
websites abound. write in cyrillic and (if you can read russian) you will see what tour sites are like for russia. search places in cyrillic. cyprus is кипÑ, greece is гÑеÑиа. tour is ÑÑÑ and tourism is ÑÑÑизм good luck!

What is the best hotel to stay at near Lackland AFB in Texas?
Q. My son is graduating from Lackland at the end of Sept and we would like to stay as close to the base as possible. I have read a bunch of hotel reviews and they are all scaring me. I want the hotel to be safe and clean - doesnt have to be five star. Just a decent place that we can sleep at and not be horrified.

A. La quinta would be my choice. It is located off of W.Military Dr and Hwy 90. There are plenty of surounding hotels but not as clean as La Quinta. Good Luck and send my congrats to your son!!

How is the babysitting at disneyworld hotels?

Q. in august my husband, daughter, son, and i are planning a trip to disneyworld, and we are staying at the Disney's Yaht Club hotel resort, where it sais it has babysitting. I thought that would be great considering my son will be 3 months. So i wanted to know if anybody has had their chid(ren) go to the babysiting at any of the hotels. And what is the age limit. thx!!!

A. Excellent. You can actually get the service at any resort -- though the yacht club is wonderful! With you close proximity to Epcot, you'll be able to walk there for diner each night!
Consider hoppers, if you think dinner in Epcot sounds like something you'd like to be able to do frequently.

What is the best hotel to stay at in Vegas on a budget?
Q. I'm turning 21 in a month and I'm driving to Vegas. Unfortunately, it's labor day weekend so hotel prices are higher. What is the best hotel to stay in that is the cheapest and closest to the strip?

So far, I've found Sahara and Las Vegas Club hotel to be cheapest. But are they any good? I'll take any suggestions. Thanks!

A. The Sahara is pretty decent for the price. I always stay at Circus Circus because I have a kid, but I would stay there anyways because the rooms are SOOOO cheap. Also try Imperial Palace.

What's the name of a furry flash game where you play a guy in a hotel and have sex with different people?

A. Yeah, I really dont know what game are u talking about :D You can always head to a site ill reffer in the source box and you can check out if its there as ALOT games are.

how I can travel around europe on a budget?

Q. I am back packing through London, Manchester, Amsterdam, and Barcelona. I will be there approx. 18 days, and I am really worried about my budget.

What is the cheapest way to travel around to those places? Should I fly or take a train?
And does anybody have any budgeting tips for me? I think I am functioning solely off a credit card.. is that a mistake? And what are other money saving tips on food, alcohol, museums etc.?
I need advice from an experienced traveler! This is my first trip!

A. Hello. I am not an experienced traveler but I still would like to give you my advice. I wish I could travel where you're going!

I think the cheapest means of travel is a train. It may take longer than a plane, but you won't need to worry about as many things. From my experience though (not overseas), a train is a lot cheaper than a plane.

As for budgeting tips...I would say focus on things you "need" more than "want". You need food of course...buy food in bulk (it'll save you some money--trust me), museums are usually cheap too. Also find some places that are outdoors, like famous parks...or landmarks or something that do not cost to enjoy.

A lot of people travel with their credit card. As a matter of fact, it seems like everybody does so nowadays. As long as you feel confident that you'll be able to pay back your debt on your credit card, then I would say that it isn't a mistake. If you are worried about your budget, think in your head "what are things I need? what are things I want?". It may sound silly but I have done this when I have been to different places or had limited money and I always ended up on an alright budget.

As for the money saving tips again...food (buy in bulk -- might seem a little more expensive, but it really isn't in the long run), alcohol--I would assume that alcohol is cheaper in Europe...but maybe not. That may be one of those things you need to think about in your head whether you "want" or "need" it. Like I said before, museums are cheap. Also outdoor activities are cheap.

You are also saving a lot of money by "back packing" through all of these places. At least you won't be spending 18 days in one of those $1000 a night hotels!

Have a fun and safe trip!

How far apart are dam square and Leidseplein.?
Q. We have a hotel in dam square but we want the night life!!! Is it with walking distance?
We have a hotel in Dam square amsterdam but want the night life is it close by to Leidseplein?

A. It is about 20 minutes walk. But why don't you take a tramway? Tramways 1, 2 or 5 will lead you to Leidseplein from outside the Dam square.

Amsterdam is where I met my Norwegian wife in 1970. We love the place and often visit it. Have you seen the Amsterdam Historical museum near the Queen's palace? Very interesting to see how the city was built and its history.

There is also a very nice jazz club in one of the street leading to Leidseplein, called Jazz Cafe Alto. The best way to see Amsterdam is, of course, by renting a bicycle. But ... perhaps not in the winter! :-) Give my regards to Vondel Park, that's where I met the most beautiful girl who became my wife!

Does Anybody Know A Cheap Decent Place In Manhattan To Drop Off My Car For A Couple Of Days?
Q. My and my girlfriend are planning on driving down to New York to stay for a couple days, we'll be getting a room at the amsterdam hotel on West 50th st. in Manhattan. I was just wondering if anyone knows a place close enough to the hotel where we can drop off the ride for a coiple days at a decent rate? I would really apreciate the help thanks people.

A. My friend, driving in New York City is a nightmare and find a decently priced parking garages for you car is worst. Most them charge between $9 and $15. My advice, drive to New Jersey and park you car there. The link below is list of parking garages in both Jersey City and Hoboken, NJ. Many of the garages are located near PATH train stations.

Nice hotels in Dublin for less than 70e?

Q. I'm looking for a good hotel in Dublin city for Sat January 30th for one night. Double room. Doesn't have to be up to a really high standard, just not a kip. Will stretch to a bit more than 70 for the room... but well, i'm a student :) lol

A. Done a quick search for you, I know hotels here are really expensive but come on its a recession they want â¬160 per night in Jurys Inn in christchurch with not even a bit of toast for your brekkie no way, ridiculous. Anyway heres the cheapest of the good hotels I could find:

Lynams hotel, O'Connell St - â¬69 dbl rm
The Harding Hotel, Christchurch - â¬75 dbl rm
The Alexander, Merrion Sq. - â¬79 dbl rm

I've had family that stayed in both The Harding and Lynams and they thought the accommodation in both were good. I'm from Dublin but have stayed in The Alexander a couple of times and out of the three this would be my choice, its in a nice area just straight down the side of Trinity College. All three are centrally located and above prices doesnt include brekkie.

Hope this helps, enjoy Dublin

Geography class: Fake trip to Ireland?
Q. I have this geography assignment to make a power point presentation on a "trip" to Ireland. we only have monday and tuesday left to work in school, but I need some information on what to do in ireland, and one physical feaure of ireland. we have two cities we are "going" to. Dublin, and Cork.

A. Cork was voted the third best city to visit in the world by Lonely Planet in 2009! Cork is very pretty and the buildings are beautiful. Here is a picture of the main street, St. Patrick's Street: http://wikitravel.org/upload/shared/7/7d/Cork1.jpg
There are lots of really great shops in Cork and the whole city is covered by a bus system. One great thing about Cork is that it's on hills. The city centre isn't but if your hotel is on one of the hills you can see the whole city lit up at night! The river Lee flows through the city and the city centre is actually built on an island which is in the middle of the river. There are many bridges in Cork because of this. There's also allot of attractions in Cork like the English Market (which the Queen visited), the Crawford Art Gallery, Cork City Gaol, Cork City Museum, the Shandon Church where you can go and ring it's bells, the Butter Museum, St. Fin Baree's Cathedral, Blackrock Castle and Observatory and UCC.

Dublin is much bigger than Cork with a population of over 1,000,000 vs Cork's 192,000. Yes if you go to Dublin you can visit the Guinness and Jamestown factories. Dublin does have many nice old buildings too but not as nice as Cork in my opinion. Although Grafton Street is lovely: http://jenhanen.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/06302006011.jpg
Merrion Square, the Dáil, Government Buildings, the Four Courts and O' Connell Street also have many nice old buildings. Dublin is easier to get around than Cork because of the Luas(tram) and the Dart(city train) aswell as bus services. There are many museums and galleries in Dublin, the Zoo, the Spire, it's great for shopping! I love Dundrum shopping centre! There's Dublin Castle too! Dublin is great to visit if you like History and old buildings! Dublin is also the easiest city to get to from outside of Ireland. There's too much to list to do in Dublin to be honest!

What you could do is visit Cork from Dublin or vice versa. But there really is allot more to do in Dublin, even though I prefer Cork! There is a train every hour and it takes 2hrs 45mins

should i visit dublin or galway, i mainly want to shop and dine?
Q.

A. Defintely Dublin, I love Galway, but for shopping you cant pass Dublin.Grafton St and the surrounding streets on the southside of Dublin are great, theres a lot of higher class stores and botiques there (Brown Thomas etc..), but also a mixture of high street stores (Awear, Topman etc..). On the northside, Henry Street and the surrounding streets, full of high street and cheaper shops (great bargains). Also if ya fancied taking the Luas (Tram) to Dundrum Town Centre (get off at Balally Stop and follow the signs for the centre), it has a great mix of shops and a few good restaurants too, Plus a cinema and Winters Bar beside the cinema is a great spot.

In regards to dining,

check out http://www.menupages.ie/Dublin.aspx

This is a great site but reviews of all restaurants and something to suit every budget. For a really special treat, if ya dont mind splashing out, check out Town Bar and Grill on Kildare Street or Patrick Guilbaulds Restaurant in The Merrion Hotel.

http://www.townbarandgrill.com/

http://www.merrionhotel.com/guilbaud.asp

For a cheap and cheerful option check out Bocca Italian on South Anne Street off Grafton Street, Great service, food and atmosphere and a normal three course meal for two will only set you back about E50.00 (a steal)

Have a great time wherever you decide to go.

What is the nicest place to stay in Banff?

Q. What are the nicest hotels in Banff? Want comfort, scenery and luxury.

A. Banff Springs Hotel is definitely the nicest place to stay in Banff. Beautiful and comfortable rooms, great views, but fairly expensive. If you're willing to pay for it, that would DEFINITELY be the place you should stay.

Would like to plan a vacation to Canada. Recommendations on cities and other attractions?
Q. I am interested in Quebec to experience the city. What to do there? I am also interested in Banff and Lake Louise for its natural beauty. What other recommendations do you have? What have you liked/disliked? Places to stay/places to visit? Thank you!

A. I live in Calgary, Alberta. Let me tell you the Banff Springs Hotel is fantastic! They have great Hot Springs! There are so many different things to see. The Hotel is said to be haunted. Sometimes you can see a lady in a wedding dress walking down the main stairs...
There's also a candy shop that has some of the most delicious candies from all over the world! Ummm, fudge!!
Victoria City in B.C. is also great. A lot of different cultures in that city. And their museum is something else, too.
And of course, don't forget about Calgary. Our zoo is huge! When was the last time you saw a polar bear? They even have an interesting dinosaur exhibit. And Heritage Park, with one of the oldest trains in the history of Canada that goes all the way around the park. They also have a wax museum depicting what life was like 150 to 200 years ago with real antiques.
There is so much to do on the west side of Canada, sorry I don't have much info about the east. I hope you have a really unforgettable vacation!!

What's the easiest route to travel from Houston, Tx to Banff, Alberta. What airlines have the least stops?

Where can I buy used or new hotel furniture?

Q. Just enough for one apartment. I like the specific look of nice hotel furniture, and the things at the regular furniture stores are totally different. Has anyone bought hotel furniture before...where did you get it...any details? Thanks!

A. I have, lots of times. Always at auction. When a hotel goes out of business or remodels, they sell it all at auction. I usually find 3 - 5 per year, sometimes 10 - 15 per year. We got leather chairs for $5, mirrors for $1, commercial kitchen appliances, etc. Even got tons of stuff free. Check newspapers, bulletin boards and auctionzip.com

What hotel in New York City has a great view of the july 4th fireworks?

Q. I'm thinking of planning something nice for my girlfriend this comming July 4th holiday. Since my gf loves fireworks, I was hoping somebody could tell me which hotel in NYC has a great view of the fireworks?

A. How about skipping the hotel and going down to Queens/the Rockaways? I'm a Queens resident....the view from Howard Beach is pretty sweet. Plus there's a ton of local stuff going on. And the beach. There's more to NYC than Manhattan, after all.

What it the best hotel to hold event in nyc?
Q. I am looking for am event space at a hotel in NYC for a charity event that would hold at least 100 people. Catering could be from outside or from the hotel, doesn't matter. The price would have to be reasonable and availability would have to be early 2013. I've tried calling hotels, but there are soo many. From experience or just word of mouth, what would be the best hotel for this event?

A. The Roosevlet?

Where in NYC and around is best for tourist stay?
Q. I plan to visit NYC in November and the hotels within NYC are just too pricey. Where is a cheap and safe alternative? Thanks!

A. If you want to see the sights in NYC, then you want to stay in the city. You won't really save much by staying elsewhere and the hassle of having to commute back and forth is NOT worth it. New York is an expensive destination and if you want to visit you'll need to "bite the bullet" and pay the price. You would probably want to stay in the "Midtown" area or Times Square.

Try some of the discount websites for hotels, such as Hotwire or Priceline. Depending on when in November you're visiting, hotels will be more or less expensive. Thanksgiving week and after will be more expensive. You might save some money by renting a condo or apartment, because you can prepare some of your own meals. HomeAway.com has lists of available accommodations.

To save money, do some research on the city. There are guidebooks on how to spend less in NY. Should be at your library or bookstore. You can try on line sites, too, e.g. BudgetTravel.com.

If you plan to go to several of the "usual" tourist sights, check out CityPass.com. TKTS can save money on Broadway and off-Broadway shows. Lists of free or inexpensive things to do are in the NY Times weekend section [published on either Thurs or Fri] and New York Magazine, the Village Voice, etc.

If you want to "see" the Statue of Liberty [vs actually going inside it], you can take the free Staten Island Ferry. You can walk across the Brooklyn Bridge from Brooklyn [take the subway to the "Brooklyn Bridge" stop and walk over to the bridge] - it will be very cold in November, but it's a neat thing to do.

Be sure you familiarize yourself with the transit system - it's easy to use and safe, except perhaps in the middle of the night. Go to the transit authority website or consult the NYC guidebooks.

Cheapest but safe place to stay/hotel in singapore?
Q. I'm a 19 year old girl and i want to experience travelling alone before i go to New York by myself (study purposes). I want to see whether i can handle it or not. So i'm planning to go to Singapore alone, since it's so close to my country. If you know any hotels/studio apartments that are cheap yet in a safe neighborhood, please let me know. I dont need a 5 star hotel, all i need is a place to sleep ( a room with only bed, tv and bathroom is fine too) preferably with Wireless Internet connection. Thank you!

A. Try YMCA at Orchard Road as they are near to many museums and Orchard Road. It's also near Doby Ghaut MRT station which you can travel easily to all parts of Singapore.

By the way, Singapore is generally safe, but avoid red light area like Geylang, Johore Road.

Can you make over 6 figures for being a top chef in America?
Q. i'm talking like a top restaurant in boston or new york..i'm curious as to see whether top chefs in top american restaurants make over 100,000 a year?

A. Some do in larger centres, in Hotels or Multi-unit places, a restaurant chef can make $35-60K, but alot is dependent on the places, business and the owners willing to pay top dollar for a top notch chef, I was one for many years, I worked in Canada, Japan, Singapore and in Jamaica, but I have been out of the business now for 10 years, I made good money travelled and saw the world in the meantime, how ever it can be hard work, long hours, not alot of off time and if you like to go out and party or a social person, it can cramp that lifestyle, I never got married, as I would not date anyone in the places I worked, now at 53 I regret that some what.

what price would be a good estimation for a trip to Europe?
Q. including tickets from LA, food, hotels, 4 train tickets that are $1000 each, and about $1000 for Souveniers.

A. It depends mostly on what kind of accommodation you are going to use and where in Europe you go to.
There are hostels that range in price from $ 10 to $ 50 per person per night. Hotels range from $ 25 to $ 400 per person per night.
Eating is the next consideration, if you cook your own meals, or eat in the cheapest places, you might be able to get by with $ 10 per person per day, but if you go to fancy restaurants you can easily pay $ 100 per person, excluding drinks and it is not hard to find more expensive places.

For your air tickets, do you fly budget in winter, or do you take a normal ticket in summer, or do you fly first class?
And you also forgot to mention for how long you travel.

You will have to research a bit more yourself, as nobody but you can say what kind of accommodation, meals and airfare you prefer.

The average tourist in Amsterdam seems to spend $ 275 a day, but I have also heard from people going on an extreme tight budget of $30 a day, (spending nothing on travel by hitch hiking and sleeping in the house of people he had met while traveling most of the time.)

If I am going to LA for a Dodgers game, Where should I stay to be close to the most bars/clubs?
Q. What area in LA has hotels closest to the most bars and nightlife? But is not too far from Dodger Stadium and LAx. Also how is the public transportation to hotels from LAx and to Dodger Stadium?

A. Dodger stadium is on the ther side of town... so there are plenty of places to stay in between LAX and Dodger Stadium. Like the person said above me.. I wouldn't opt to stay super close to the Stadium. It really depends on how much money you want to spend on a hotel as to where your options to stay are. As far as public trasnsportation... i would not take it. I've lived in LA 9 years and have only taken a cab twice... they are expensive. I wouldn't dare get on a bus.. they look scarry from the outside more aless the inside. I would suggest renting a car if your only in town for one day or two because the cost of the rental car will be about what you'll spend for a cab ride. As far as bars and clubs.. they are all over LA. Sunset has a great selection. However, you can find bars and clubs almost anywhere.

How much does just one night at disneyland hotel cost?

Q. I want to stay at the Disneyland hotel for just a night. How much will it cost? Plus tickets?

A. I think DR should change her name to Mis(s)Information.

The cheapest way is NOT to book a package. The package gives you more perks, but is not cheaper by any means. Costco Travel or AAA Travel give you some discounts, but they are still not the cheapest way to go. Once again, you get perks that regular guests do not get, and you pay for them.

The Disneyland Hotel varies quite a bit, based on day of week, and the time of year. Summer room rates are considerably higher than January room rates. Standard low season rooms go for about $200 (plus tax plus resort fee). Tickets to Disneyland vary, but you can get a 2-fer ticket right now which lets you go for two days, one park per day, for less than the price of a Park Hopper. The 1 day Park Hopper is $105, and the 2fer deal is $99. The 2fer deal is supposed to be for SoCal residents only, but in my experience, I've never seen it enforced if you buy your tickets at one of the local grocery stores.

Best website for great deals on Disneyland Parks and The Grand CA Adventure hotel?
Q. I am looking for a great deal on 3 nights 4 days at Disneyland, Anaheim. We are also looking to stay at the Grand California Hotel.
Anyone know of a great website to get a good deal on park hopper passes & hotel deals?

Thank you!

A. http://www.tripadvisor.com/SmartDeals-g29092-Anaheim_California-Hotel-Deals.html

Which hotel is the closest in walking distance to Disneyland and has the cheapest rates?
Q. I would like to stay at the disneyland hotel but it is to expensive. Can anyone recommend a hotel that is the closest walking distance to disneyland with cheap rates? We are not looking for any fancy hotel.

A. Which Disneyland ?

Los Angeles , Orlando , often known as DisneyWorld , Paris , Hong Kong .

If it's LA , try this link : http://cheaperthanhotels.com/United-States/Anaheim-Orange-County/Disneyland/ with your dates - there's about 150 which you can sort by price then check on the map with a route planner to work out distances. . Unless you want to go for very expensive hotels most use distance as a means to charge more. The nearer you are, the more expensive it gets.

But this site has plenty of last minute deals which can save a lot.

I think there are other good deals in the other cities, but you'll need to check through.

Can anyone recommend a decent hotel in Central London?

Q. My boyfriend and I will be over in London in early july and i'm have trouble finding a decent reasonably priced hotel. We're looking to stay about a four or five nights an are looking to spend no more than £180-£200 each on accommodation. Preference is around Hyde park, Earls Court, or Camden Town but we're open to somewhere a little bit further out if it means we can find somewhere that bit cheaper.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

A. County Hotel, London (Euston) Upper Woburn Place, London, WC1H 0JW, England
2 Stars Prices from £28.00

Basic and clean, 10 mins walk for St Pancras. Always stay there when I visit London

What are some reasonably priced hotels in the downtown Chicago area?
Q. Ones that are close to, or easy to access Hyde Park.
What CTA lines are near it?
Thanks so much

A. hmm im unfamiliar with the area, but you could try www.campusvisit.com, gives discount hotel rates

What is the area near the museum of Science like?
Q. We're taking a family trip to Chicago...museum of Science and Industry. I believe it's in the Hyde Park area, South Lake Shore Drive. Would that be a safe area for a family to stay at a hotel? Specifically the Ramada Lake Shore? Thanks.

A. Personally, I would try to stay further north. The Hyde Park area is not one that you would take a walk after dark.
If you stay right on Lake Shore Drive, you are probably OK. But anything west or south of Hyde Park area is not great.
I am trying to be somewhat diplomatic here. Ramada Lake Shore is is just north of Hyde Park, and very close to public housing areas. OK during the day, but not at night.
Hope this helps.

is 5000$ dollars enough to travel to europe for 2 weeks?
Q. i really wont to back pack across europe for about 2 weeks is 5000 enough?

A. Assuming you don't stay at places like the Hotel Danieli in Venice, that should be more than enough to have a very good 2 week trip here. Prices depend on where you go and what you eat/buy, but with that amount you wouldn't necessarily even have to stay in a hostel every night. That's over 250 euro per day which is more than I spend most days when I go out exploring staying in 3 or 4 star hotels and eating restaurant meals.

Hello there, gonna go to Italy pretty soon and I'm still looking for a nice and luxurious hotel.Suggestions?
Q.

A. Italy is a fairly large country - where exactly do you want the hotel? The Cipriani and the Danieli in Venice, the Golden Tower and the Regency in Florence or the Parco dei Principi and the Splendide Royal would all be examples of luxurious hotels. there are lots of other choices in these cities and others around Italy though.

You might find this site useful for finding accomodations where ever you plan to go: http://www.venere.com/hotels/italy/
