taking a cruise and need to know how far conde de barcelona hotel is from airport and how much?

Q. Everything is taken care of except transportation from airport to hotel. Is taxi best solution? I was in London on my own once and was getting into a taxi at airport and a bobbi came up and told me not to take that one; I would be ripped off. He guided me elsewhere where there was a line of other taxis. Don't want to make the same mistake.

A. It is close to Place de Catalyna which is the main city square.
The airport coach (cheap and comfy - bus stop outside terminal) takes you to the square where it terminates.
Assuming you are staying overnight you can get easily a taxi to the cruise terminal (about 10 minutes) from the square.

Walk down Las Ramblas (starts from square) for the evening - lots of entertainment and snack bars/restaurants. Metro station at the bottom of the road if you are tired and want a quick/cheap trip back to the square!

Assuming you are not boarding until the late afternoon go back next morning to the square to the airport bus stop.
By it is the hop on - hop off city buses with multilingual guides on every one.
Spend the morning going round the 18 "best sites" in the city. You cannot "do them" all in one day, Chose the ones you want to see (you MUST include the cathedral, they have been building for 100 years - still not finished - you will understand why when you see it!) and stay on the bus as you go past the ones you don't want!

How do I get from Barcelona airport to?
Q. How do I get from Barcelona airport to a hotel in Port Olympique (near a subway station)? Not renting a car. Travelling with a child and a good amount of luggage. What would be the options and the approximate costs?

Thanks.

A. A taxi will run about 30 Euros, but is fastest.

I would recommend Taking the train from the airport to Passeig de Gracia, then transferring to the Metro L4 (yellow line) in the direction of La Pau. I assume your hotel is near Ciutadella-Villa Olimpica, but you can check Google maps for how to walk from there. The downsides 1) are somewhat long, though well-marked, transfer from the train to metro. 2) Pickpockets, especially if you're carrying luggage and looking after a child. Make sure all of your personal belongings are secure. Cost is about 2.60 per person for the ride, much less (about 70 cents) if you buy a 10-ride ticket, which I recommend if you will be using public transit during the stay.

There is also a bus that goes to Placa de Catalunya, but it is a little more expensive than the train, and you would have to take the green line (L3) to the Yellow line. Too many transfers in my opinion.

Wonderful city. have fun!

What is the best area of Barcelona to stay?
Q. My friend and I are spending a week in Barcelona in March and wondered what part of the city is the safest/best to stay. We want to consider meeting local people as well as safety considering we are 2 younger women. Also if you have any recommedations of clubs/restaurants that would be helpful.
