Where is the nearest shopping center from the Grand Diamond Hotel in Bangkok?

Q. Where is the nearest shopping center from the Grand Diamond Hotel in Bangkok? Is Siam Paragon near Grand Diamond hotel? I'm staying at the Grand Diamond hotel when I visit this October...

I saw a picture of a mcdonalds statue with praying hands, I want to take a picture with it when i visit...where is that located? Is there one in MBK or Central World Plaza?

any more tips on shopping too?

thanks!

the most detailed reply i will choose as the best answer...

A. The Ronald McDonald at the McDonald's in Silom makes a wai with his hands.

Platinum is closest but not that great - its OK for clothes. Pratunam market is directly over the road (Petchaburi Road) from Grand Diamond, but that is a market rather than a mall but still good for shopping and cheap places to eat. Pantip Plaza (IT mall) is close - turn left out the front door of Grand Diamond and keep going for about 100 meters. Central World Mall is quite close (few hundred meters) - turn right out the front door of Grand Diamond, turn right at the first junction and keep walking for 200 meters. Siam Paragon is beyond that.

At the junction (that you turn right at to go to Central World) mentioned above - on the other side is a shop/restaurant that sells very delicious pork satay (moo satay) - I normally order 200 Baht and that gets me loads and keeps me going for a day or so. The massage place on that corner isn't one that I would recommend.

is the Asia Hotel Bangkok a good hotel for 4 teenagers :P?
Q. We have a 5 day layover in bangkok and we are staying at the asia hotel bangkok. is it good for 4 teens aged 19y.o? also does anyone know if you go down to pattaya can we use the Asia hotel pattaya's facilities like the pool?

A. I guess it's as good as any hotel for 19 yr. olds, it's not the best location in Bangkok but not bad at all, and is right next to the Skytrain for easy access to other areas. Whether you're able to use the facilities at their Pattaya sister hotel I'm sure the Asia Hotel would be the best place to ask. Quite often guests are allowed to use facilities at sister hotels as long as they are registered guests at one of their other hotels, but you better ask them to be sure.

Should i book a hotel before arriving to Bangkok and what part of Bangkok is best?
Q. G'day mates
Me and my mate are going to Bangkok for 2 weeks during 20th jan to 3rd of feb and we were wondering if we should book online or rock up to the hotel. Is Bangkok busy during this time? Also wanted to know what part of bangkok is the best place to be to enjoy the nightlife and shopping?

My friend also wants to know if $5000 AUD is too much for 2 weeks. He said would that be a good amount if u want a hotel around $140.

A. OK If you are staying in Bangkok for that long I suggest the Bel Aire Princess hotel. Its on Soi5 Sukhumvit. Across from Nana Plaza. This is by far the best area to stay in for nightlife, shopping and go-go bars. As for bringing money I always budget myself for £100 a day. This is alot and I always come home with money but there will be nights you will spent a bit.
Might I also suggest that 2 weeks in Bangkok is a long time. If I where you I would do 4 nights in Bangkok max then get a taxi to Pattaya. There you have beaches and 10 times the nightlife of Bangkok. That time of the year the weather will be really good and it will be less busy than dec start of jan.
