Is a disney vacation package a good deal?

Q. Planning a Disney World Vacation. We are planning to stay at a Disney resort. I know there are cheaper hotels in orlando, But we are staying on site. Are that Hotel/Ticket/Flight packages sole on the disney website a good price or can you find things cheaper if you ala carte?
I've been searching flight prices on various website and using some comparison websites and I am not seeing anything that is cheaper than what I can already using the package.

A. I'm sure you can find cheaper plane tickets if you are savvy about it, but otherwise the vacation packages are most convenient and a fair deal. Disney hotel and ticket prices cannot be found cheaper anywhere. The vacation websites like Expedia or Priceline do not offer discounts for Disney hotels, and legitimate tickets are only sold directly through Disney. Definitely consider the Disney dining plan as well as it is discounted and you will save money on food!

Is there any good hotels in Orlando Florida for 8 people for one night?
Q. We are going to disney with 8 people. The first night we arrive we don't have a hotel. Any good cheap hotels that can hold 8 people?

A. For Cheap & 8, Not Off The Top Of My Head... You Would Have To Find A Small Name Hotel. If You Want To PreDetermine This Try Google Mapping Or Searching One Near Your Desired Destination...

In Orlando can you use other hotels facilities or only the hotel you are staying in?
Q. We are visiting Orlando in June and staying on International drive in one of the cheaper hotels. Is it acceptable to visit other nearby hotels and use their pools, restaurants etc? Or not?
It may seem cheeky but we have asked before on various holidays and they have usually welcomed us.

A. In general hotels only offer their 'free' amenities, such as the pool, to paying guest. You are always welcome to use anything where you will be paying out money, such as restaurants.

The previous poster who said that you can use any Disney pool as a Disney hotel guest is incorrect. I know you are not staying at Disney, but just to clarify, if you are staying at a Disney property you may use any pool at that particular property, however, you are not allowed to move to another Disney hotel and use their pools. The only exception to this rule is the All Star Resorts, where you may use any of the pools at Music, Movie, or Sports.

But then again, I don't think the lifeguards at the Disney resorts really check to see who is using their pools anyway!

Speaking of Disney resorts,If you plan to patronize other hotel restaurants, I recommend that you visit Beaches and Cream at the Yacht and Beach Club Resort and get the 'Kitchen Sink' dessert. Make sure you take a hefty appetite and at least 3 friends with you to enjoy this dessert!
