I want to open a hotel... Can someone point me to a page regarding California hotel laws and requirements?

Q. I have a property that I would like to open as a hotel... Can someone direct me to a page that lists requirements to open and operate a hotel in California? If it matters, it is in Palm Springs, California.

Thank you!!

A. Visit the City of Palm Springs - Department of Building and Safety for requirements to open a hotel. If the property was previously a hotel site it likely will be easier to open. There are tax exemptions available to newer hotels. See the ordnance at the link below.

Is there anywhere to park near my New Orleans hotel?
Q. I'm going to New Orleans at the end of June, and staying in the Hotel St. Pierre. We were not originally planning to rent a car, but now we think it would be best because we'd like to do some driving around the southern states that are not that far away. Our hotel has a very tiny parking lot, but I've heard it's a crap shoot as to whether a spot can be found, or not. Do any of you locals know if there is any parking nearby our hotel that would be safe to leave a rental car?

A. There are parking lots around the Saint Pierre and the hotel can direct you to them.

Try to avoid renting the car until you are ready to drive away from New Orleans so you don't have to worry about parking, or paying for parking.

If you have to rent a car and then park it for several days, the least expensive parking in the city center ai at the Amtrak station (1001 Loyola Avenue). It's $4 per 24 hours, has a 24/7 human attendant, the lot is patrolled by the AmTrak police, and it's a short taxi ride/longish walk from the French Quarter.

whats the best place to find good hotel rates for honeymoon in vegas?
Q. I need to book a hotel room for my little sisters honeymoon for mid october, is there any place online that I can find somewhere that will allow me to pay for the room with my credit card and still allow her to check in without me bieng present?

A. Hotels in general will take anyone's money.

If booking online through sites like travelocity or expedia, your credit card is typically charged right away for that. For finding the cheapest rate-shop around. Find out what the hotel is charging on their website and compare that to the sellers like travelocity, orbitz, hotels.com, etc....

Depending on how much your doing for your sister, the next step may be to call the hotel. Once your at the hotel, they'll ask for a credit card to keep on file for incidentals (phone calls, room service, etc) if you want to cover this as well, you'll have to contact the hotel direct, typically they'll have you fill out a form that states exactly what can be charged to the given cc, i think most hotels will allow you to set limits as well.... And if you tell them it's for honeymooners, i'm sure they'll go out of their way to help, maybe even leave a gift in the room for them!
