Will I need to rent a car for my vacation in Belfast?

Q. I will be spending 3 days in Belfast in late September. Is it recommended to rent a car?

A. It depends on if you want to leave Belfast to go somewhere specific.

Belfast is a good sized compact city. It is very walkable and the public transpost system is excellent. There are frequent buses and trains. Taxi cabs are also a popular around Beflast. There is a cab stand in front of City Hall in the City Centre as well as outside the Europa Hotel where you can get a cab and it should only cost a couple of pounds to get anywhere downtown.

If you want to do touristy things such as the Giants Causeway you can do that on public transport or book on a tour at the Belfast Welcome Center http://www.gotobelfast.com/

There is good public transport that will take you to/from the airports also.

I would think, unless you are heading out of the city that you really would not need a car. I usually walk everywhere or get a bus if its raining.

if i have booked with the europa hotel, belfast online will i be paying a deposit or the whole thing?
Q. will it be a deposit through my debit card and pay the rest on the day of arrival, or will the whole amount of money be taken out?

A. Didn't you read the fine print or even bother to find out the answer to this query? They would know better than we.

Does anyone know how much a taxi from Belfast city centre to Belfast city airport costs?
Q. Does it make a difference whether it's day or night? It would be around 3am.Thanks.
It says about £8 on the airport website, would that be about right?
Belfast city does have an airport - approx 4km from the city centre.

A. Yea I'd sat about a tenner to George Best airport. If you're flying from Belfast International it'll be around £20-£25 to the city centre. If you're wanting to save the spondulucks get a bus from Glengall Street in the city centre. Its next to the Europa (aka most bombed hotel in Europe) and opposite that you have the crown bar. One of the best pubs in Belfast (its called the crown because a husband and wife of mixed denominations owned it - she got to call it the crown on condition that the only crown in the place would be on the floor - so everyone could walk over it.
