Why is it that hotels are so much cheaper near LAX?

Q. I am finding 4 star hotels that are cheaper near LAX than other areas. I am just curious about the area. I would like to stay in a nice place that is safe and 4 star hotels cheaper than 2 star hotels seems hard to beat! There are 4 girls going on this trip.

A. Hi Tara,

In addition to the airplane noise, you have the fact that there is nothing to do in that area. The only thing close to the airport hotels are other hotels, fast food joints, and the strip club. Those hotels cater to business travelers who either drive to an appointment, or are attending a seminar in the hotel. There's nothing to do, no place to go, and the area isn't the greatest.

You get what you pay for.

Is it safe to stay near the United Center?
Q. Is it a safe area and are the hotels cheap there? Also what is the distance between the United Center and the Cadillac Theatre?

A. No, not at all safe.
No real hotels in the area.
If going to UC find another hotel and take the CTA to UC.

Downtown there are no real cheap hotels, try priceline. The Burnham on State and the DAys I*nn on St. Clair are the most reasonable.

About 3 miles from Cadillac to UC but do not walk. Take the bus, Less then 20 minutes away any time of day.

What are some good girls weekend out ideas for austin or corpus cristi?
Q. it will be three days, two nights, and about four girls i think. teenagers. are there any teen nights going on in some of the dance halls? also, what fun activities do you suggest? and what hotels (cheap but nice)?

A. I'm not from that area, but may I suggest a few things?

1. Almost every town in the US has a Chamber of Commerce (A Chamber of Commerce's main function is to have listings of festivities, activities and local interest (museums, theaters, etc.) for that town/city (sometimes surrounding cities as well) available to locals and tourists. They are usually very helpful and nice). Put in Austin or Corpus Cristi (or another nearby city) Chamber of Commerce into a search engine, get a phone number and give them a call (ya, it will cost more then emailing, but it will be instant & don't know how soon you are leaving).

2. If they don't have a Chamber of Commerce, try looking up their town/city hall, ask for the town/city clerk and the clerk may be able to give you some info or at least point you in the right direction.

3. SInce you obviously have internet access, enter the name of area you are attending and the word 'functions' or 'activities' or 'calendar of events' in a good search engine.

3. Be careful who you share this info about your trip with. There are sickos out their. And if you are a group of teens on your own, have fun but BE SAFE!

Good Luck!
