Where can we stay in Boston and get to Fenway Park easily?

Q. My family of 4 is driving to Boston for a Thursday night Red Sox game. We'd like to spend the night and visit Boston the next day. Hotels near Fenway Park are all booked (next week) and we can't afford more than $200 for a night in a hotel. Any suggestions on where to stay so we don't have to drive in Boston once we get there?
We'll be driving from Maine.

A. The MBTA (Aka. The T) has a stop on the Green Line called KENMORE which is Kenmore Square and adjacent to Fenway Park. So you want to find a hotel nearby a "T" station. I've no idea where you're coming from, and there are plenty of hotels that would meet your criteria, so what I'd do is check out http://www.mbta.com for the most convenient end point, then start looking for hotels in that area. For example, using the search engine of your choice, search for '<station name> MBTA STATION HOTEL' and then check the results and contact those that appeal to you. Remember that lines connect, so the hotel does not need to be along the Green Line.

Added 5/12 1257EDT - I believe the hotel to which Hank refers to is the Hotel Indigo, which is located on Grove St. in Newton (Exit 22 off I-95) just between I-95 and the Riverside Green Line Terminal. The entrance to the terminal is the next driveway on left after the hotel. Easily walkable.

Remember, you want to ride to the KENMORE stop!

The last car back to Riverside leaves Government Center at 12:45AM and takes (according to the "T") 11 minutes to get to KENMORE on it's way, so if you use this method, plan accordingly.

I need a hotel recommendation for the Boston area?
Q. I'm running the marathon in April and need a cheap hotel- preferably on the outskirts of Boston but within walking distance to the T which will take me to Downtown Boston. If yuo can, give me a few town choices incase the hotels are booked up, due to it being such a busy weekend. Thanks!!

A. That is a tough order. You might want to extend it to the commuter trains. You can check around Waltham. Look for Riverside. That is the name of the train track. There are 2 hotels in the vicinity, within walking distance. Riverside will take you to South Station in Boston.

Newton is another possibility as is Natick and Wellesley. There are train stations in both places.

Cambridge is a place you could look into. It's the sister city to Boston.

Personally, I would go with Waltham. It's safer and convenient.

I'll check to see what hotels are near Riverside.

Hotel Indigo

What hotels are in deep ellum dallas?
Q. i am flying there next month so we won't have a car, we want a hotel that we can walk to almost everything.

A. Stay in the eastern end of Downtown (Hotel Indigo, Sheraton, and Westin are the three closest) and walk (Deep Ellum is just the other side of Central Expressway from Downtown - it is about a half mile from Hotel Indigo east on Main to the heart of Deep Ellum) during the day or after dark take a taxi or bus to Deep Ellum.

FYI - buses don't run much past 12 midnight (www.dart.org)
Bus #s 37, 60, & 76 with light rail service opening in Sept 09
1.50USD for 1 adult one way, no transfers
cab for one person between Downtown hotels and Deep Ellum should be less than 10USD including fuel surcharge and tip.

Hotel Indigo was once a Hilton - one the early Hilton Hotels, if not the first Hilton Hotel. It is catty-corner from the old City Hall (now the city courts building) where back in Nov of 1963 Deep Ellum night club owner Jack Ruby shot Lee Harvey Oswald. The Indigo is also about a half mile west of Dealy Plaza where Oswald allegedly shot JFK.
