What to wear when visiting marrakech?

Q. I am going to Marrakech this month.
I want to be respectful of the culture. I will wear long cotton skirts and cover my shoulders but Do I need to cover my collar bone? I am not on about showing cleavage!
Also does my 2 year old daughter need to cover her shoulders and knees aswell?
Thank you.

A. Your 2 year old daughter can dress as prettily as you want. Many little girls wear sunfrocks and shorts, so no dress code for her. In fact small Moroccan girls are dressed delightfully. They always look wonderful. This is not Indonesia where even the babies wear hijab.
For you, if you want to wear one button undone and a little bit of collar bone shows, thats ok. But, as you say, not cleavage.
The fashion here is to wear a tight long sleeved tee shirt under the sunfrock. This , of course, is for out in the street.I n the hotel, or the house, you can wear what you like.
The most marvellous garment to wear in the heat is the djellabah. Now you can get shortish sleeved ones that are in wonderful colours and end at mid calf. They are not expensive. It means you and cool, look elegant and mix in with the crowd.

How is Marrakech, Morocco for a single man?
Q. I was thinking about visiting Marrakech, Morocco. Does anyone have any advice on where to stay and what to do?

A. I actually go to Morocco at least once a year, every year, travelling alone and have no problems what-so-ever.
There are many historical sights in the centre of Marrakech: Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace (former palace), Palais el Baadi (old ruins), Saadian Tombs (tombs of former rulers), Medersa Ben Yousef (former Islamic school), Jardin de Menara, Jardin Majorelle (world famous gardens were owned by YSL), Dar Si Said (museum of Moroccan arts & crafts), The Mellah (old Jewish quarter), the souks.
The are also day trips into the mountains, gorges and valleys.
Skiing is possible at the right time of year although it is quite possible there may be too much snow for this.
Eating can be inexpensive in Moroccan restaurants or in the main square which is transformed into scores of open air restaurants in the evenings.
There are many cheap hotels which can cost little and some will allow sleeping on rooftops for next to nothing for those who enjoy the outdoor way or are just short of cash. Perhaps you could specify a budget.

Me and my partner are going to Marakech for 7 days. Is this anything in particular we should do?
Q. We're going to Marakech for a cultural break. I am not one to sit by the pool so want to be kept busy with lots of interesting things and want to see/experience the best of Marakech. I am a foodie so any good restaurant suggestions? We are staying in a hotel situated in Bab Doukkala. Also are there any good clubs for gay couples? Is there anything we should avoid doing?

A. There is so much to do in Marrakech!
It's to my opinion the funnest place in Morocco.
You should definitely take a picture with a snake or/and a monkey =)

Also try snail soup, sounds dirty huh, but once you even smell it you'll think different.
A thing you should definitely eat is Harira, a soup to. That's so nice and you can get it almost every were. If you want the nicest harira go to a restaurant where they are specialized. You'll know it because they have a huge pan usually where you can see em.

and before you go, be prepared for the heat Marrakech is one of the hottest places in Morocco.

Go to the centre where you see al kinds of stores and places to eat. And after the maghreb (when the sun goes down) prayer it will cool down and it's also fun outside when it's dark.

I don't think there are gay clubs things in Morocco, and maybe you should also keep it to yourself in morocco.

Have fun =)
