Why is there a dumb street law in Jakarta?
Q. For foreigner, Jakarta is a very confusing city. One morning around 9, I was driving a friend's car with my wife from our Hotel, Hotel Nikko, at Thamrin street. Suddenly a cop pulled us to stop the car on the sidewalk. I didn't think we made any mistakes or speeding. We asked the cop, what's wrong sir? The cop didn't even speak English to us. But He mentioned about three-in-one law. He said "three people one car, 7 to 10 morning". Well then we said, that we were tourists, and didn't know that law before. After that, he let us go. I just think this law is very dumb. Besides that, the street jam was at worse. Finally we got to "Ancol Beach" at 10:30. One and a half hour just to get to the nearest Beach.

A. Rehulation is regulation. it's made not up to you, after all, like you said your self, you are a tourist. the officer is being nice to let you go. as a tourist, you should just obey the law no matter how dumb it is.
FYI, there is the same regulation in Singapore.
1,5 hour to reach ancol from nikko hotel thamrin? are you sure you know your way? it could take 3 hours if you tour around the city while going there too you know?
