There seems to be a lot of old buildings in Dallas?
Q. Obviously not as many as in Detroit, but there's a lot nonetheless. So, does anyone know of any particular old buildings in Dallas, and where it is, and, if possible, know any sites where pictures of those structures can be found.

A. Dallas has opposing factions with regard to historical preservation, and while there are a number of old buildings left, many, such as the Dr Pepper plant, have been razed for redevelopment. My favorites that are still standing are the Art Deco buildings at Fair Park. Downtown has the Old Red Courthouse, Adolphus Hotel, Majestic Theatre, Belo Mansion, Wilson Building, Magnolia Hotel, the West End, and other examples. Swiss Avenue and Munger Place in East Dallas are neighborhoods of older homes that have been restored. The first two links below might give you more information. The third link is of photos I took at Fair Park in March.

What area and hotel is the best area to stay during a 4 day visit to Dallas?
Q. Can you recommend some restaurants and tourist things to do in December?
I'd prefer a 4-star hotel near museums and shopping area.

A. This hotel is very beautiful! Check it out! Hotel Adolphus
