Can you suggest budget hotel for San Diego lodging during Valentine Week?

Q. My girl friend and I have planned a hangout at Mardi Gras taking place in Gaslamp Quarter, best suited for a Valentine day bash.Kindly suggest a budget hotel for San Diego lodging.

A. Going by my experience, I can say California Suites Hotel would be a better option for you. It is only a budget hotel and is surrounded by beautiful locations, ideal for a couple out for a Valentine outing.

What is a good hotel in San Diego that is on the beach?
Q. Are there any mid-priced hotels in San Diego that aren't ghetto and actually sit on the beach? I'm looking to spend about $100-$179 a night.

A. Beach view Hotels in San Diego
Best Western Blue Sea Lodge, Surfer Hotel, Tower 23,
Ocean park Inn, Pacific Terrace Inn, Diamond Head Inn, Pacific View Inn, The Beach Cottages.
These next hotels "sit on the beach" Crystal Pier Hotel, Ocean Villa Hotel Ocean Beach( they take dogs) , Sea Coast Inn Imperial Beach, Hotel Del Coronado (Very Expensive)
I would recommend the Blue Sea Lodge, Ocean Park Inn or the Pacific Terrace Inn.

What hotel would you recommend I stay at when visiting San Diego?
Q. Any ideas for a reasonably priced but decent hotel in San Diego?

A. Stay in the Downtown area, the Hard Rock Hotel, Ivy Hotel and Hotel Solamar are very trendy and new, with rooftop bars and pools with views of the bay and Coronado. You can take the ferry to Coronado and explore it, which is beautiful, rent a car one day and go to La Jolla and Del Mar.

Hotel del Coronado (in Coronado) and La Valencia are the classics, but are quite expensive.

I wouldn't recommend staying in Mission Valley, although there's lots of hotels around it. It's just that the area is just malls and chain restaurants...you're better off to a neighborhood with a bit more character, like Downtown, La Jolla or Coronado, unless BedBath and Beyond and Bennnigan's count as sightseeing.
