A. Since most of the activities would take place at North Avenue Beach, you can try hotels located from Oak Street to Fullerton Avenue. Actually, there are lots of good options for you to watch all the action both in the sky and lake.
The Drake Hotel: the hotel is a couple of blocks from Lake Michigan and have a great view of the show. Ambassador East Hotel (at 1301 N State Pakeway, 60610), The Westin Michigan Avenue Chicago (909 N Michigan Avenue, 60611) and Elysian (11 E Walton Street, 60611) are great.
If you are looking for cheap ones, then consider Residence Inn by Marriott Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile (201 E Walton St, 60611) and Belden Stratford Hotel (2300 N Lincoln Park W, 60614).
**Stay at hotels on Oak Street Beach to enjoy to water part of the show. But if you are more interested in the air part, I recommend you to stay at hotel near Foster Avenue. Personally, I prefer to go out and watch the show on a boat on the lake. If possible, you can take advantage of the And Water part of the show! That is amazing.

There are also several hotels like the Ritz-Carlton, the James, The Drake, and The Elysian.
If you are looking for banquet only, check out the Art Institute, the Galleria Marchetti, the Ivy Room at Tree studios, and The Armour House (gorgeous gardens)
Just keep in mind that these places will charge anywhere from $150, to $1,500 per guest, but you did ask for the best.
