Anyone know of a good hotel in LA for one day trip for two 25 year olds?

Q. I'm visiting some friends in San Diego in 2 weeks with my roommate; but we were planning on spending two days in LA as well beforehand. I haven't been there since I was a kid, but my roomate and I are both single in our 20's and we're looking for a hotel near bars, clubs etc... and not in any bad areas. Anybody know of a good hotel that we could stay at for just one night? I have no clue what I'm doing or where to look.

This is a former retirement home on Sunset Strip turned into affordable and playful high-tech hotel for the hip that's anything but standard. From late in the week to over the weekend, there's a DJ at the front desk playing lots of technopop music for the hipsters hanging out on the low-slung sofas in the lobby-lounge. Blue Astroturf surrounds the pool. The 140 guest rooms and two suites were designed by art director Shawn Hausman (The People vs. Larry Flint), and the décor is best described as progressive, with such artsy touches as Andy Warhol print curtains. Amenities include T-1 internet connection, cordless phones and speaker phones, plus minibars stocked with the usual bottled drinks plus such

Where is a good place to stay around LA/Hollywood?
Q. I need somewhere that I can get two non-overpriced rooms, but that are still rather decent. They have to be around Hollywood/LA. Any suggestions?

A. The brand new W Hotel in Hollywood!! .. Check it out google it or something.

What is the best way to plan a Honey Moon in Disney World?
Q. Is it better to plan it yourself or is it better to go through a travel agent? Which is better: a hotel or a resort? Should we get a rental car? Any other suggestions for activities besides the amusement parks?

A. I'd suggest planning your honeymoon yourself.

My husband and I just got married in September, and since I'm a Disney Fanatic, we went to Walt Disney World for our honeymoon.

There is a website for planning Walt Disney World weddings and honeymoons. I didn't use it much, though... I just used the Walt Disney World website for planning where we were going to stay, what we were going to do, where we were going to dine, etc.

However, there is a great new feature to the honeymoon website. They have a new Disney Honeymoon Registry. There's a list of the Resorts, restaurants, recreation, theme park ticket packages, etc. and you can check off what you're intersted in. Then your family and friends can add money to the account as a wedding gift, and Disney will send you a gift card with all the money on it.

Anyway, if you're honeymooning at Walt Disney World, I'd recommend staying on property at one of the resorts. My husband and I stayed at Disney's Polynesian Resort our first week and Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside our second week. We had the best time! I would totally recommend staying at Disney's Polynesian Resort or any of Disney's Deluxe Resorts.

If you're just planning to stay on Walt Disney World property like we did, don't bother renting a car. The transportation at Walt Disney World is great. If you plan on going to the coast, or somewhere more than an hour away, then you may want to rent a car. If you just plan to visit other local theme parks, like Universal Studios or Seaworld, there's other shuttle transportation from the Walt Disney World Resort.

My husband and I spent our entire honeymoon (15 days and 14 nights) at Walt Disney World. We didn't have to leave property, were completely entertained the entire time, and had the time of our lives! There's all sorts of fun, romantic stuff to do at Walt Disney World outside of the theme parks. I would recommend having a nice dinner at Victoria and Albert's at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort. The California Grill, Narcoossee's, and Citricos are really nice restaurants as well, all serving excellent food. Walt Disney World offers cruises on the lakes. My husband and I enjoyed a cruise on Crescent Lake. The boat driver went around the Boardwalk area and Disney's Hollywood Studios, then parked under one of the bridges at the World Showcase at Epcot so we could watch the fireworks show, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. It was wonderful! And the Walt Disney World Resort offers special cruises on two special boats, the Breathless at Disney's Yacht Club and the Grand 1 Yacht at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort. Also, we went to see Cirque du Soleil: La Nouba at Downtown Disney. I would recommend that, definitely. It was one of my most favorite parts of our honeymoon vacation. My husband... well, his favorite parts were the tours we took. We took Disney's Backstage Safari Tour at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park. We got to ride Kilimanjaro Safaris and experienced the attraction differently than you would if you weren't on the tour. Of course, we got to see all of the backstage areas... where the animals' food is prepared, the veterinary rooms, etc. We got to see the rhinos and elephants up close. It was a lot of fun! We also took the Dolphins in Depth Tour at Epcot. We got to stand in the pool with the dolphins, learn all about them, pet them. It was really amazing! Then we took the Seas Aqua Tour at Epcot, where we got to swim in the other aquarium with all the fish, sharks, sea turtles, stingrays, etc. It's unexplainable, how incredible it was. It was the second time I took the tour, and I'd take it a third, fourth and fifth time. It's just the most amazing thing, swimming above all those giant sea creatures and seeing them up close. They give you swimgear and an oxygen tank. It's so much fun! Another thing we really enjoyed was mini golf. Who thinks of that while they're at Walt Disney World? Well, the Walt Disney World Resort has to places to mini golf - Winter Summerland (outside of Blizzard Beach) and Fantasia Gardens (near the Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin Resorts). We went to Fantasia Gardens and we had an awesome time! No one was there! It was a great break from the busy theme parks. And since it wasn't very busy, we were able to take our time. It was very relaxing, fun, and one of our favorite parts of our trip. Another thing I'd recommend is visiting the water parks. We went to Typhoon Lagoon and had the best time! I can't swim, so I'm not too fond of water activities, and my husband is a fan of swimming, but not too fond of waterparks. We had so much fun though! There's so much to do at Walt Disney World... you two can go horseback riding at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, go on a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort or Disney's Port Orleans Resort, go on a guided fishing excursion at any one of the Resorts located near the lakes/lagoons, go parasailing at Disney's Contemporary Resort.
