How Often Can I use my marriott employee hotel discount?

Q. I'm currently a NEW part-time employee at the Courtyard Marriott and I wanted to use my associate hotel discount rate every single weekend for the next year... Is that possible?

Front Desk Employee...

At a different location but only on the weekends?

How would I do this, would I have to notify my manager that I am staying at a different hotel every weekend...

Could I lose my job if I abuse this privilege?

Would I just book a room my self for that certain location on the weekend.

Thanks!

A. when in doubt, refer to your HR manual or ask your manager!

How can I get a Hotel discount in Boston at the early Feb?
Q. I want to spend a few days in Boston with my girlfriend in Boston at the early Feb. I did a search from internet and found that Hilton will cause about $200 per night. I wonder how can i find some discount about hotel in Boston?

Thank you!

A. In most cities you'll find out most cheap hotels are crack and whore spots. I found this out by experience and found them on most every web search site on the internet. They leave that info. out because most have not had employees or staff ever stay at these so called bargain hotels. Honestly I have found out that nation wide, Holiday Inn was the fairest price for the atmosphere and clients they host. In most every one I spent no more than $120 a night. From Chicago, Detroit, Buffalo, Newark, and Salem, Mass. the choice was by far the best. Most of the other chains were far more pricey. Security is also a factor and I was pleased with Holiday Inn. Good luck and enjoy,,,oh,, ask to be high up and facing the city lights,,,Romantic,,,totally.

Any recent visitors to Key West that can give me some tips?

Q. I will be in Key West in the middle of June 2010. I know that is out of season. Anyone been there recently that can give me tips on the best places to eat and drink? Should I book a trip to Dry Tortugas online ($160) or will I get a better deal there?

A. June is a good time to go, this is when local Floridians visit because all the prices drop & hotels become more affordable. Walk around Duval Street, you will find dozens of places to eat & drink. Drinking is a major reason people go there. Key West is a very small place, everything can be seen in less then a day. l have heard good things about that trip out to the Tortuga's & Fort Jefferson. Have a good trip.

What part of Key West has the nicest view and best beaches (blue, clear water, white sand)?
Q. I'm booking my honeymoon for Key West and was wondering what area of Key West has the nicest beaches (blue, clear water & white beaches)? I was planning on booking a hotel off of duval St. but I wasn't sure what the beaches look like on that end...I kinda figured they would be nice b/c they are facing the Gulf. Thanks!

A. I would stay away from the big hotels (Reach, Hilton, Hyatt ect.) Key West is known for its many quaint and beautiful bed and breakfasts, most of which have beautiful tropical gardens (keywestinns.com has over 60 inns you can view and book online). The beaches are awful. There is no natural sand because of Key West's close proximity to the coral reef, so the beaches are pretty rocky, also bacteria levels are often very high making the water unsafe to swim in. If your set on going to the beach, Fort Zachary Taylor Beach is your best bet. To make the most of you trip you really need to get out on the water. Sunny Days Catamarans offers daily snorkle as well as sunset champange sails. (There are other companies but this one is my favorite) If your going in the summer, they offer a combo trip that goes out to snorkle and stays out to watch the sunset. Make sure you ask what the visability is before you book a snorkle trip though, it varies from day to day, less than 30-40 feet of vis. is bad some days can be 60+ feet Jet skiing is another awesome way to see the whole island, Key West Water Sports offers a sunset jet ski tour, thats really cool. Other sunset options include the Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square, and a more laid back but beautiful sunset view on the roof top of the La Concha Hotel, its the tallest building on the island, and usually offers live music and a full bar during senset. Hope you find this helpful.

How much would it cost to go to Key West on a week's vacation?
Q. I was thinking about going there for seven days by myself. How much would it cost to fly from Northern Ky to Key West, along with the hotel stay, food, etc?

A. probly for tranportation/lodge 500? but thats without food...

How can I open a restaurant in Mumbai???

Q. Hi. I am interested in opening a restaurant in Mumbai. I would like to know the issues to be considered when opening a restaurant. What is a good, accurate, reliable review website for hotel ratings?
Q. I'm planning on going on a trip to London,UK and is looking the hotel reviews (in Victoria, London to be more exact). I want to know if any of you know where there is a good, accurate, reliable hotel review website that I can use. Thank you!

A. I always use TripAdvisor because it usually as dozens of reviews and photos by real customers.

Who does the hotel ratings?
Q. I am interested in being a health inspector for a hotel corporation or restaurant chain. Ultimately I would love to do hotel ratings. What are some resources or great places to look into that could help me out.

A. Robin Leach and John Ascuaga do hotel ratings, often in some form of disguise. They test out the continental breakfasts, water pressure, heaters, air conditioning, beds, TP, towels, soap, complimentary shampoo, mini bars, lighting, TVs, on demand movies, parking, pools, weight rooms, laundry, ice machines, game rooms, room service, and check in protocols. Sometimes they even test the elevators.

Cancun Spring Break Hotels Downtown vs. Hotel Zone for college students?

Q. I am looking to travel to Cancun for 5-6 days for spring break with a friend or two and was wondering whether it would be safer/better/cheaper to stay downtown or in the hotel zone? Also, if anyone has any suggestions as to hotels that are better for college students that aren't too pricey (Oasis Cancun is way out of the question for us) it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

A. Downtown will be cheaper. You will not have hte beach right out of the hotle, but it seems you will be more active after dark than during the day.
Around the bus station you have several options; hotels, bed&breakfast, hostals. There are a couple of 'business' hotels (City Express) that could work as well.

trying to book a hotel in Barcelona for 2 weeks, I have found www.horse21.net is this a good site?
Q. I would like the hotles to be sports related

A. While booking a hotel in Barcelona we always have to make sure that it is a reliable website
Barcelona has many swanky hotels that are cheap and are hygienic
There are very few websites that offer proper support
One of them is listed below
They offer a variety of cheap and good tourist packages in some of the best hotels
Do take a look at them

Has anyone gone to Vegas for New Years?
Q. A few friends and I want to go to Vegas next year for New Years Eve. We would arrive in Vegas a few days before and then stay for a day or two after New Years. Has anyone done this? Where did you stay, how much did it cost and what kind of room was it (single, suite, etc) Where did you go and what did you do on New Years? Was it worth spending the money to stay on over New Years or would you suggest going at a different time? Tell me about your experience. We are interested in starting to plan now with budget and saving up over time, rather then breaking the bank to pay for it all at one time.

A. Staying in Vegas for New Years is a real treat.
We did that about two years ago. We stayed in the Orleans (which is a few blocks off the strip). We had to book for a minimum number of nights (I think three) and the price was holiday rated-about twice the normal.
If you go at that time, don't plan on driving around the strip New Years Eve. It's almost impossible to move around.
I think you and you rfriends would almost do better going to Vegas during a regular week. The hotle rates are really cheap (anywhere from about $35- up) and the strip isn't too crowded.
For us, it was a first time trip at that time and we had fun, but I would not do it again. We will only go to Vegas during the spring or summer before it gets too hot.
Have fun!

Where is a good place to have a 18th birthday party in Chicago?

Q. i live in Chicago and I'm planning a 18th birthday party for May ...i need a large nice place with a cool atmosphere, it could be a club in Chicago.

A. Most "cool" places in Chicago serve alcohol and therefore wouldn't book a party for an 18 year old. You should head to the hotels for a banquet space. The W on Lake Shore Drive is cool, as is the Justin (super expensive).

What would be the best way to get from Union Station in Chicago to a hotel on W Monroe St late at night?
Q. I'll be seeing a show at the United Center, alone. I imagine it'll end around midnight. I'm planning on taking the #19 bus that runs during shows at the United Center to Union Station. What would be the best and safest way to get back to a hotel on W Monroe in the loop? Thanks!

A. I think you may be a bit confused about the route of the #19 bus.

Westbound (to the United Center), the bus runs from Michigan Avenue along Madison to the United Center. It does have a stop near the Madison Avenue entrance to Union Station (this is actually a little-used entrance that is accessed from the end of the north train platforms).

But Madison is a one-way street in the loop, so the eastbound buses run along Washington, which is a block north of Madison. The bus does not really access Union Station (although you can get off at Canal and walk south to Union Station), but proceeds all the way east on Washington to Michigan (which is where Washington ends).

The eastbound bus stops along Washington at Canal, Dearborn, Franklin, Halsted, Jefferson, LaSalle, State, and Wabash. It also stops at Michigan and Randolph. I don't know what hotel you are staying at, but I would just tell you to get off at whichever stop is closest and walk two blocks south to Monroe.

Here is a map of the downtown area that may help you understand:
http://www.transitchicago.com/assets/1/clickable_system_map/200806D.htm
Unfortunately, the #19 is not shown on the map.

Here is a list of stops for the #19 bus:
http://www.transitchicago.com/assets/1/bus_stop_lists/19.htm

If you are still uncomfortable, there will be taxis outside the United Center. A ride will cost you less than $10.

What to do in chicago for new years under 21?
Q. Me and my buddies want to go to chicago for new years but none of us are 21. we are all 20. so we are having trouble finding something to do. As of now i guess our plan is go to dinner, get drunk, go to the fireworks or something and explore downtown. is there anything fun we could do thats relatively inexpensive?

A. First, let me tell you that you if you come to Chicago with the expectation that you will somehow manage to slip into a club or bar "under the radar", just forget about that right now, cuz it's not gonna happen. Chicago establishments are very keen on identifying and preventing under agers from getting to clubs and bars. They usually have a scanning machine and require EVERYONE to turn over their ids for the scan. If not getting in would ruin your trip, then don't waste time and money coming! Also, realize that it will be ABSOLUTELY FREEZING in Chicago at that time and you WILL need hats, gloves, and heavy coats (don't bother coming without these things like many tourists do, believing since it's only a weekend, they can get away with a sweatshirt or heavy sweater - forget about that! Due to Chicago's layout, you will spend a substantial amount of time outside, especially at New Years, so take my sage advice.

I'd say the #1 thing to do in Chicago (particularly if you are under 21 and you'll have NO other options) at New Years Eve is to go to Navy Pier. Navy Pier always has a bit party going on and a water front fireworks show to ring in the New Year. I believe you may be able to attend one of the parties even if you are under 21 (because they give out bracelets if you are 21/able to drink) - Google it. Again, bear in mind that this is largely an outdoor location and you will need to be outside for the fireworks, etc. so dress properly!

I think you should rent a hotel room VERY close to Navy Pier so you can walk there, since the whole city if be at a traffic standstill about 20 minutes to midnight (the Police actually STOP ALL traffic so you cannot get a taxi, or travel in any other way than by foot if you are in downtown Chicago). I recommend that rent a room at the Sheridan or at the W on the Magnificent Mile. You can be sure to warm up with drinks (non--alcoholic of course) just before you leave the room to join the action. Walk down Magnificant mile and be sure to stop for dessert at the Signature Room, located on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Building. AMAZING views! Be sure to have reservations. During the day, you should definitely go ice skating in Millennium Park.

How can eco-tourism work in a capitalist society where more tourists = more money?

Q. Just thinking if the aim of tourism is to make money then surely all "alternative" forms of tourism whether its "eco" "cultural" or whatever are still just money making ventures that will aim to make profits and therefore grow irrespective of well meaning regulations. This will just push the eco-tourist to constantly new destinations as the prev one becomes spoilt leaving a wake of disaster. At least with big beach resorts eg Benidorm, Malaga, the infrastructure is already there and the tourist can be kept contained?

A. Eco-tourisim only works in communist or socialist countries. In capitalist countries, you have to pay for your trip and they treat you like just another tourist. And, what's the point of going abroad if you're just another tourist carted around in buses surrounded by sweaty mindless oafs from Kettering and Coventry in their cloth caps and their cardigans and their transistor radios and their Sunday Mirrors, complaining about the tea - "Oh they don't make it properly here, do they, not like at home" - and stopping at Majorcan bodegas selling fish and chips and Watney's Red Barrel and calamares and two veg and sitting in their cotton frocks squirting Timothy White's suncream all over their puffy raw swollen purulent flesh 'cos they "overdid it on the first day." And being herded into endless Hotel Miramars and Bellvueses and Continentales with their modern international luxury roomettes and draught Red Barrel and swimming pools full of fat German businessmen pretending they're acrobats forming pyramids and frightening the children and barging into queues and if you're not at your table spot on seven you miss the bowl of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup, the first item on the menu of International Cuisine, and every Thursday night the hotel has a bloody cabaret in the bar, featuring a tiny emaciated dago with nine-inch hips and some bloated fat tart with her hair brylcreemed down and a big a-rse presenting Flamenco for Foreigners. And then some adenoidal typists from Birmingham with flabby white legs and diarrhoea trying to pick up hairy bandy-legged w-o-p waiters called Manuel and once a week there's an excursion to the local Roman Remains to buy cherryade and melted ice cream and bleeding Watney's Red Barrel and one evening you visit the so called typical restaurant with local colour and atmosphere and you sit next to a party from Rhyl who keep singing "Torremolinos, torremolinos" and complaining about the food - "It's so greasy isn't it?" - and you get cornered by some drunken greengrocer from Luton with an Instamatic camera and Dr. Scholl sandals and last Tuesday's Daily Express and he drones on and on about how Mr. Smith should be running this country and how many languages Enoch Pow ell can speak and then he throws up over the Cuba Libres. And sending tinted postcards of places they don't realise they haven't even visited to "All at number 22, weather wonderful, our room is marked with an 'X'. Food very greasy but we've found a charming little local place hidden away in the back streets where they serve Watney's Red Barrel and cheese and onion....... crisps and the accordionist plays 'Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner'." And spending four days on the tarmac at Luton airport on a five-day package tour with nothing to eat but dried BEA-type sandwiches and you can't even get a drink of Watney's Red Barrel because you're still in England and the bloody bar closes every time you're thirsty and there's nowhere to sleep and the kids are crying and vomiting and breaking the plastic ash-trays and they keep telling you it'll only be another hour although your plane is still in Iceland and has to take some Swedes to Yugoslavia before it can load you up at 3 a.m. in the bloody morning and you sit on the tarmac till six because of "unforeseen difficulties", i.e. the permanent strike of Air Traffic Control in Paris - and nobody can go to the lavatory until you take off at 8, and when you get to Malaga airport everybody's swallowing "enterovioform" and queuing for the toilets and queuing for the armed customs officers, and queuing for the bloody bus that isn't there to take you to the hotel that hasn't yet been finished. And when you finally get to the half-built Algerian ruin called the Hotel del Sol by paying half your holiday money to a licensed bandit in a taxi you find there's no water in the pool, there's no water in the taps, there's no water in the bog and there's only a bleeding lizard in the bidet. And half the rooms are double booked and you can't sleep anyway because of the permanent twenty-four-hour drilling of the foundations of the hotel next door - and you're plagues by appalling apprentice chemists from Ealing pretending to be hippies, and middle-class stockbrokers' wives busily buying identical holiday villas in suburban development plots just like Esher, in case the Labour government gets in again, and fat American matrons with sloppy-buttocks and Hawaiian-patterned ski pants looking for any mulatto male who can keep it up long enough when they finally let it all flop out. And the Spanish Tourist Board promises you that the raging cholera epidemic is merely a case of mild Spanish tummy, like the previous outbreak of Spanish tummy in 1660 which killed half London and decimated Europe - and meanwhile the bloody Guardia are busy arresting sixteen-year-olds for kissing in the streets and shooting anyone under nineteen who doesn't like Franco.

Has anyone stayed at either The Britannia Hotel or the Etap in Birmingham - what did you think?
Q. We're looking for cheap accommodation and these both fit the bill, but some of the reviews are pretty rough. Help us make up our minds between them!

A. Not stayed in either.

However I have stayed at the Britannia's sister the Britannia Airport Hotel in Manchester and it is every bit as bad as the reviews. The chain seems, in my opinion to have somewhat of a bad reputation.

Never stayed in any Etap (i think it is Accor's budget chain - they also own Ibis and Novotel). However, all the ones I have seen are pretty new. I would expect it to be relatively clean and comfortable but very basic in terms of facilities

When is the best time to book a flight to England?
Q. My friend and I are planning a trip to England this summer (july, 2010). I was wondering when the best time to book our tickets? Right now they are super expensive, will they go down at all?

Thank you!

A. Hi Jessica,

Typically tickets tend to be their cheapest, I have found, for international travel about 8 - 12 weeks prior to the date of departure. With that said, traveling to the UK in July is a peak travel time and I would not expect to find inexpensive tickets. Prices you see now, I feel, will go down but do not expect them to go down that much. If you are looking for inexpensive tickets to the UK there are two periods when ticket prices for travel to the UK is reasonable. One period is from mid-September - late Nov / early December. Second period is from late January / early February - late April / early May. Also you have to remember that the cheapest days to travel, generally speaking are Mondays - Thursdays. Fridays and weekend departure dates can be significantly higher. Therefore to get the best deals possible look for departure dates during the week.

Another option you may want to consider is booking your flight and hotel room together. Sometimes it is cheaper to book both together on line instead of booking them separately. Also if you are going to the UK as a group of at least 8 then you may want to see if the airline will give you a group discount. However to get a group discount you may have to go through a travel agent or call the airline directly then booking on line. Lastly consider other airports such as Birmingham or Manchester sometime you can get cheaper flights into them instead of London. Birmingham is about a 1.5 hour train ride and Manchester is just over 2 hours via train from London.

What to do and where to go in Las Vegas?

Q. My beau and I are going on vacay to Las Vegas this week and we really want to do (and see) as much as we can without spending a fortune. (We want to save our cash for the casinos.) What's hot, and what's not? We don't just want the typical recommendations like the Bellagio fountain show of the Blue Man Group. What are some of the smaller treasures on (or near) the strip?

A. When you go to Las Vegas these usual things you will want to see for FREE:

1. Number one on my list is to watch the fountains displays in front of the Bellagio hotel. It usually runs every 15 minutes in summers starting at 3:00 PM; runs continuously until about midnight. Each show is different (there are more than 20 different tunes choreographed) so stay and watch at least 2 or 3. ALSO, go inside the Bellagio hotel to its lobby and view the beautiful glass sculptured ceiling AND the seasonal floral arrangements in the Atrium.

2. The âSirens of TIâ show (spectacular) in from of the Treasure Island Hotel; it runs every 90 minutes starting at about 4:30 PM. Simply stand on the sidewalk in front of the TI Hotel.

3. The volcano erupt in from of the Mirage Hotel; starting at dark until midnight. Again, just stand on the sidewalk in front of the hotel.

4. Go down to Freemont Street and see the light shows. There are usually 3 or 4 different shows, starting after dark (about 8:30PM) and lasting about 5 or 10 minutes each.

5. Go to the RIO hotel to see the Masquerade in the Sky show. It is like Mardi Gras parade, only suspended from the ceiling over the gambling floor. It runs every 60 minutes starting about 3:00 PM; the last show starts at 9:30 PM..

6. Go to the MGM Grand hotel to see the Lion habitat. This is better then the tiger habitat at the Mirage Hotel because there are usually trainers in with lions to keep them active.

7. Go to the Mirage hotel to see the white tigers that Siegfried and Roy show used. This is kinda passe because the tigers rarely do anything but sit and stare.

8. Go in Caesars Palace and walk through the Forum shops to the first fountain (its spectacular) then take the first fork to the left to go see the aquarium. Then continue on through the shops to the second fountain and wait for the show to start.

9. Go into the Flamingo hotel to see their animal habitat with flamingos and penguins.

10 The Excalibur hotel also has a free show starting at 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM.

11. If you are a Star Trek Fan, go to the Hilton (off the strip) for "Star Trek The Experience"; it cost about $25.

People go to Vegas to sightsee as well as gamble. You can see most of the stuff on the Strip by walking, so you don't need a rental car. There is a free monorail between Bellagio and the Monte Carlo Hotel and also another free one between Excalibur, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay. The one on the opposite side of the street which runs from the MGM to the Hilton you have to pay to ride. There is a free bus between Harrahs Hotel to the RIO Hotel that runs every half hour. There is also a free bus that you can get outside the Barbery Coast Casino that will take you to the Orleans and some other off strip casinos.

Plan which hotels/casinos you want to visit each day so you can make the most of your walking and the free monorails and scuttles. When you get to Vegas you will probably have in your hotel room a free guide to the city called either "What's ON" , âShowbizâor "Las Vegas Today". These are helpful guises as they have a map of the Strip and city with the hotels marked, current hotel shows and prices, plus useful coupons. Some coupons will give you a free souvenir from certain hotels; you just have to take the coupon to the hotel. They also list hotel restaurants and buffets time sand prices.

JOIN PLAYERS CLUBS: Do join ALL of the players clubs because they are your ticket to lower priced return trips. The hotels will email you, or send by regular mail, specials on room rates and shows. The players clubs are free; all they want to see is your driver's license. You can join some of these clubs online before you go.

SHOPPING: There's shopping at Fashion show mall right next to Treasure Island Hotel (across from the Wynn Hotel), or you can drive or take a taxi or the bus south of the Strip (just past the airport) to the outlet mall. For more shopping, drive south on I-15 to Primm, NV (at the Calif border ... about 45 miles) and there is a big outlet mall and some casinos.

DINING: The hotel coffee shops and buffets are now much more expensive than they were years ago. So, if you want to eat for less try one of the Denny's for meals (one in the Casino Royal hotel/casino and another across from the Monte Carlo hotel/casino). There are also a McDonald and a Burger King on the Stip near Harrahs. You can get breakfast and dinner buffets a few dollars less at the Imperial Palace hotel/casino and at the Gold Coast hotel/casino. Buffets cost less at the Circus Circus hotel/casino and in Freemont St hotel/casinos. Some hotels have food courts. There is a food court in the Monte Carlo hotel/casino, one in the NY, NY hotel/casino, and in the Palms Hotel (across the street from the RIO.) There is an Outback Steak House in the Casino Royale Hotel and another across from the RIO. There is a Cheesecake Factory and a Planet Hollywood in Ceasers Forum shops. There is a Margerittaville in the Flamingo hotel. I recommend Tony Romaâs, a ribs and chicken restaurant; one in the Stardust hotel/casino, one on Freemont St and another on Sahara Ave near Paradise Rd.

MOVIES: There are movie theaters in the Palms (multiplex) and also another on the Strip across the street from the Monte Carlo hotel, near the MGM hotel.

BOWLING: If you like to bowl, there are alley's in The Gold Coast Hotel/Casino (beside the RIO) and in the Orleans Hotel Casino. .

ACT LIKE A KID: If you like roller coasters, there are roller coaster rides at the NY, NY hotel/casino, at the Sahara Hotel/Casino, and rides for those with a strong heart at the top of the Stratosphere Casino/hotel. The Circus Circus Hotel/casino has arcades and an indoor amusement park. There is a place called Game Works below the Coke World experience that has all type video games

OTHER THINGS:

RED ROCK CANYON: Its about 20 miles west of Las Vegas out Charleston Blvd (you can pick up that street at the north end of the Strip) Its a scenic drive-through park. Go early, not in the heat of the day; there's no shade.

HOOVER DAM: Drive about 30 miles southeast of Vegas and go to Hoover Dam; the National Park Service offers tours there (@ $15.) and its interesting stuff. Go on past Hoover dam to Boulder City and then to Lake Meade for a swim and/or to visit the new casino there. Also, there are tour companies that will take you on a cruise of the river below Hoover Dam. Check the Vegas web sites.

VALLEY OF FIRE STATE PARK: Drive about 35 miles north of Vegas on I-15 and go to Valley of Fire State Park, another scenic park area.

ZION NATION PARK: Itâs a long drive (about 2-3 hours), but you can drive North on I-15 to Zion National Park and back in one day.

DEATH VALLEY: If you like to visit National Parks, drive about an hour and a half south of Vegas on I-15 and take RT-127 to Death Valley National Park (total drive may be 3 hrs each way).

GRAND CANYON: The drive to the Grand Canyon is 5 long hard hours on mostly two lane roads with trucks and campers (only a short way on I-40). You can drive there and back in one day if you leave early morning, like 6:00-7:00 AM. That will put you there about noon and you will have 4 or 5 hrs before starting back and getting back to Vegas about 11:00PM. I recommend staying overnight at the Canyon (there are plenty of motels near there, like Best Western, Ramada, Quality inns) and drive back the next day.

Is that enough. I'll be there next week myself.

What is there to do in Las Vegas for teens under the age of 18?
Q. i'm going to be going to Las Vegas with my parents and i know they're gonna be gambling, but don't know what i'm gonna be doing there.any good places to go while i'm there?

A. First of all there are a bunch of hotels that have essentially water parks for guests. The Mandalay Bay has the biggest and best wave pool sand beach pool out there, plus it has a lazy river for tubing. You will stay busy all day with that. The MGM and Monte Carlo hotels also have wave pools and lazy rivers. The Flamingo has a great pool with a water fall and a water slide, not big but very refreshing and I enjoy it all the time.

In addition, there is a place called "Game Works" which is next door to the MGM, across from NY, NY that has all of the video type games any kid could want. (look for the Coke bottle).

At the other end of the strip is the Circus Circus hotel and casino and it has a huge arcade full of games, circus acts every half hour, and if that's not enough, an indoor amusement park with roller coaster rides and stuff. At the Sahara hotel there is a roller coaster ride, and also one at NY, NY. The are also rides atop the Stratosphere tower, if you have the heart for them.

There are movie theaters right on the strip, near the MGM and in the Palms Hotel across from the RIO hotel on Flamingo Avenue. There is also a bowling alley in the Gold Coast Hotel on Flamingo Ave next to the RIO (also a good place for a lower priced buffet) and another bowling alley in the Orleans.

The usual things you will want to see for FREE in Vegas are:

1. Number one on my list is to watch the fountains displays in from of the Bellagio hotel. It usually runs every 15 minutes in summers starting at 3:00 PM; runs continuously until about midnight. 2. The âSirens of TIâ show (spectacular) in from of the Treasure Island Hotel; it runs every 90 minutes starting at about 4:30 PM.

3. The volcano erupt in from of the Mirage Hotel; starting at dark until midnight.

4. Go down to Freemont Street and see the light show. There are usually 2 or 3 different shows, starting after dark and lasting about 5 or 10 minutes each.

5. Go to the RIO hotel to see the Masquerade in the Sky show. It runs every 60 minutes starting about 3:00 PM; the last show starts at 9:30 PM..

6. Go to the MGM Grand hotel to see the Lion habitat.

7. Go to the Mirage hotel to see the white tigers that Siegfried and Roy used.

If you want to get off the Strip and do some other things consider these:

Check the web sites below.

What is best Disney Resort to stay at?
Q. If you have stayed on Disney property, what resorts do you think are the best? Or if you have visited, which do you remember the most? Tell me everything!

A. I tend to always stay on Disney property and have stayed in a handful of different resorts, both "moderate" and "deluxe". I've never stayed in the value resorts because, frankly, they look nice but aren't anything better than a Disney-fied Hotel 6 or some other cheap place.

But as far as the "deluxe" level resorts are concerned, I have stayed in the Polynesian Resort (in the Magic Kingdom area) twice, and the Wilderness Lodge (also in Magic Kingdom area) twice, and in the Boardwalk Villas (in the Epcot/Hollywood Studios vicinity) just once.

The favorite for my wife and I is the Polynesian. Not only is it a beautiful resort and located near our favorite of the Disney World theme parks, but it also has the monorail right there at hotel. It's one of 3 deluxe resorts that lies on the monorail line. It has a gorgeous lobby, a true tropical atmosphere to it, and some very good restaurants (notably 'Ohana and the quick-service Capt. Cook's).

Second favorite, so far, is the Wilderness Lodge. Nestled away within the trees surrounding Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon, the Wilderness Lodge has captured the spirit and feel of the Pacific Northwest log cabins. It has a monsterously large lobby, is impeccably decorated, and also has some great eating places (Whispering Canyon Cafe and the quick-service Roaring Forks). It's not on the monorail line, but you can take a ferry to the Magic Kingdom, or a bus to it or to any other place on Disney property.

Third favorite of the deluxe places was the Boardwalk Villas. While it's certainly a beautiful and fun area to stay in, it was too far from the Magic Kingdom for our tastes. We had 8 people staying in a 2-bedroom villa and we had a great time. There was plenty of room, we had a good view of the pool area, and you could see over into Epcot from the Boardwalk. The area was just like you'd imagine a boardwalk to be. The wooden-planked walkways, restaurants and general stores from one end to the other. You could take a motor launch across the lagoon to the Yacht & Beach Club or to Epcot or to Disney's Hollywood Studios, or you could take a bus, or you could walk the distinct paths to each park as well.

For the "moderate" level resort, we chose the Caribbean Beach Resort (which we stayed at in January 09). We were very much less than impressed. Although kept clean and beautiful on the outside, the rooms were your basic run-of-the-mill Holiday Inn type rooms, with access to them from the outside rather than going into a building, down a corridor and to your room from there. That made some in our party feel less secure. The beds were too small, the bathroom was ridiculously small, and the decor seemed like a half-hearted effort at best. The walk to the main food court/shopping area was quite far. Some in our party also had encountered some rude employees in the various food court locations.

- The verdict? Basically, if you can afford a stay in the deluxe resorts, go for it. I'd definitely choose the Polynesian again. (The Grand Floridian looks very nice, but it's not my taste. I can't wait to try a stay in the Contemporary in a tower room overlooking the Magic Kingdom sometime.)

Why do cheap hotels have free internet when you have to pay for it at expensive hotels?

Q. Cheap hotels (Less than $100) always have free internet whether its wifi or connected and other hotels ($100.00+) always charge $10-$20.00/day for the internet. Why is this?

A. Expensive hotels seem to have the mentality of "If he/she can afford to spend the night here, then he/she won't mind spending some extra on paying for internet. They know it's a rip-off but they don't care, they can pay for it". That is the expensive hotel's reasoning, whereas the cheap hotel provides it free to attract customers as they need many to make a profit.

find cheap hotels and motels in baltilore, maryland near the john hopkins hospital?
Q. i need a list of cheap hotels and motels in maryland, baltimore that are very close to the john hopkins hospital?

A. You can check TripAdvisor.com for comments from past guests about hotels anywhere. Don't think you'd want a "cheap" hotel, from a safety standpoint.

If you're staying there because a family member is admitted to JH, check with the Social Services department at the hospital. Hospitals sometimes have special arrangements with hotels for such cases. There may also be a "Ronald McDonald" house nearby.

What are cheap hotels in san diego by the Beach?
Q. I am trying to look up cheap hotels at san diego, ca by the water, really doesnt matter where but i do not want to pay for parking or have extra charges. Also I want free breakfast in the morning! Any help?

A. Check out the website: LastMinuteTravel.com for some fantastic deals on motels & Hotels in the SD area. You can designate what areas you'd like to use. Forget La Jolla or Coronado as they are the most expensive for sure! Honestly, there are not many decent motels near the beach for under $100 a night with a breakfast included during June-Aug..

How do you get a corporate discount card for hotels?

Q. What sort of id is used to receive the discount rate for the self employeed person. Is there a card you can get (not a credit card) to receive this discount or do you just use your id/business cards?

A. To be honest, I have never had a hotel ask for any sort of ID. When checking in, (or making a reservation), I just stated that I am here on business.

If you travel alot, consider getting a AAA card. It allows you greater discounts, and I have used the roadside as well.

PS, should they require some sort of ID for a corporate rate, just show them a business card. That should do the trick as will.

Good Luck!!

How can I upgrade an already-purchased hotel room on Travelocity?
Q. We purchased a hotel room in New York about a month back on Travelocity. However, we will now have an additional traveler with us, and the room that we booked will not be big enough to accommodate him as well. Is it possible to upgrade that room through Travelocity, or should I call the hotel? Travelocity gave me a discounted rate on this room, and I am worried that, if I call the hotel, I will have to pay full fare to upgrade my room.

A. call the hotel directly and see what they will do for you. You can always keep the room that you have and have one sleep on the floor!

What does it mean when a hotel has a $50 food and beverage credit?
Q. Is that $50 off the hotel rate or is it $50 added to the rate? The discount rate is $125, whereas the original rate was $179.

A. It means you can spend $50 on food and beverage at the hotel.
Probably room service. It is not $50 off the hotel rate.
If you don't buy any food or beverage then you save nothing.

LA Downtown or LAX, which is a better area to stay for a few days out of the two?

Q. I'm planning to do the basic sightseeing, shopping, etc. No theme parks. Ideally I would like to stay in Beverly Hills or Santa Monica but since hotels are so expensive I'm planning to stay either in the LAX or LA Downtown area (I found some great hotel deals in these areas). Which one is better out of the two? TIA!

A. I wouldnt recommend either. If you are going to do it anyway stay downtown. The area surrounding LAX is not a good area and you will not be doing anything close to the airport anyhow so you will save on gas by staying downtown. You may want to look at hotels in glendale if you are trying to save a bit of money. Good luck

Does anyone know of any really, really great deals for a trip to the Black Hills?
Q. Hi,
A friend and I are considering taking a trip to the Black Hills this fall. We don't need any airline tickets, because we live close enough to drive.

I just wonder if anyone knows of any great packages or wonderful hotel deals.

If we go, it will be between the last couple of days in September through the first couple weeks in October. Not sure if we will go for that whole time, but looking at all possibilities.

Anything you can point me to in regards to this are would be great. We would also like to spend some time in Hot Springs, South Dakota.

Thank you!

A. I'm unsure of deals, but the Quality Inn in Spearfish is neat.
It's location is handy to Black Hills National Forest, Spearfish Canyon, and the High Plains Western Heritage Center.
And Spearfish is real close to historic Deadwood.

I can only suggest you do the research on each hotel in the area. All the national chains have websites with all information online (in addition to reservations).
Phone numbers are also supplied; phone or fax the hotels of interest to you and ask for a deal.
There is no harm in doing that.

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Hotels%2C+Spearfish%2C+SD&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8

This is the link to Hot Spring's Chamber of Commerce website, you will find much to interest you as a visitor:

I adore South Dakota, the Badlands are also awesome to visit. Have a great time.

How can I get a REALLY good deal to go to Vegas on New Year's?
Q. I know all the casinos and hotels have their deals. But I'm looking for the good stuff - packages which include great hotel rates, maybe even some VIP stuff for the clubs.

A. You won't find anything cheap, that's for sure. That is the biggest night of the year here. You will have to go to each hotel website to see what they are offering for that night. Most are probably sold out by now. People usually book NYE a year in advance.

Q. What effects did the Manila Peninsula and Oakwood Mutiny brought to the Philippines and to those places? Do you think Trillanes did the right thing to voice out his grieveness against the government?

Please answer this seriously. No sarcastic answers. Thank you.
Grievances, I mean. Sorry, wrong spelling. I don't even know where I got that spelling. lol

A. I feel he had the right intentions by opposing Gloria but he did the wrong thing by taking the hotel hostage. A tagalog word that is very fitting for what he did that day is "PALPAK".

What is the best hotel to stay at while at Lackland AFB?
Q. We will be in Lackland from Sept 26-30 to see our son graduate from Basic Training. We want to be near the base but are getting really discouraged reading hotels reviews - some say they are UNSAFE and DIRTY while some say those exact same hotels are GREAT. Please be as honest as possible and help us figure out where to stay. There will be 3 of us - my husband and myself as well as our 13 year old son staying there. We are coming from Maine and have never been to Texas. We plan to visit the Riverwalk and Seaworld while there.

A. The La Quinta Inn received 3 stars out of 5 according to Google Maps. There are 37 reviews - many of them were positive. There's also the Holiday Inn.

What does it mean when Americans say "their chicken burgers also went down nice and easy"?
Q. Does that mean they're so fat that there's actually a lot of food that doesn't go down nice and easy?

I went to some hotel review sites and all the American tourists always seem to talk about is eating. Mostly the same kind of stuff they have in their home country like burgers, hot dogs, chicken burgers at the pool. They never really seem to bother to find out anything about the country they're visiting.

A. first of all since it is a review of the hotel, those people ate what the hotel served and if your countries hotels decide to serve American type food, it is NOT the tourists fault. AND why would the review list foods from elsewhere?? Its the hotel review.
Look up your countries typical restaurants reviews to find out what tourists thought of THAT food.
You cannot expect answers about local food if you are only looking at hotel reviews. Why would anyone talk about food elsewhere?
And just by reading a hotel review, what makes you think these people never found out anything about the country they were visiting? You might want to look up tourist reviews of your country, not a freaking hotel...

What is the best Hotel to stay in or near Disney World ?

Q. I have two kids 3 and five. Where thinking of going to Nick Hotel.

A. I haven't been to the Nick Hotel, but I have seen it. It's huge, and the pool area looks great (you can see it clearly from the road). I was shocked at how expensive it was ($200 a night when I was looking), considering that it didn't have a lot of advantages for Disney World or anyplace else.

Do either of your kids still nap? If so, you'll be a lot better off on property. Also, if you are not going to have a car on-property is better in terms of bus service. Some off-site hotels only have once-daily bus service to the parks. My kids love Caribbean Beach and also Animal Kingdom Lodge. I once booked a room at Animal Kingdom and got a free upgrade to a savannah-view room because they didn't have a room with bunk beds left.

We stayed at Pop Century on our last visit to Florida, but I did not like it as well as the others. Although it isn't actually far from any of the parks, it regularly took us over 30 minutes to get from hotel to the parks. One night coming from Epcot to the hotel it took 45 minutes. I don't know where the bus driver thought he was going. I have also stayed at the All-Stars. The rooms at both of these resorts are fairly small and it can be a long walk from the room to the bus stop or the food court.

I'll be going to Florida this summer and I'm renting a house. It has four bedrooms, its own pool and hot tub, internet access, and a pool table, as well as a full kitchen. With tax this will cost slightly more than $100 per night. I have done this several times with no problems. Depending on the time of year and length of your stay, this might be a good option for you too.

Have a good time!

Can you make over 6 figures for being a top chef in America?
Q. i'm talking like a top restaurant in boston or new york..i'm curious as to see whether top chefs in top american restaurants make over 100,000 a year?

A. Some do in larger centres, in Hotels or Multi-unit places, a restaurant chef can make $35-60K, but alot is dependent on the places, business and the owners willing to pay top dollar for a top notch chef, I was one for many years, I worked in Canada, Japan, Singapore and in Jamaica, but I have been out of the business now for 10 years, I made good money travelled and saw the world in the meantime, how ever it can be hard work, long hours, not alot of off time and if you like to go out and party or a social person, it can cramp that lifestyle, I never got married, as I would not date anyone in the places I worked, now at 53 I regret that some what.

Can anyone help me with this stomach problem?
Q. Hi I'm from Singapore and I'm visiting New York. Recently I've suffered from stomach cramps and loss of appetite. What's going on with me? Cound it be a viral stomach infection?
PS Being a typical Asian dad, if I tell my dad that i need to see a doctor he'll get angry grumpy and mad at me cos he says that American hospitals are hard to find, dirty and lousy. Can anyone help me?

A. How long have you been experiencing this? If it hasn't been going on that long and if you are eating foods that are a lot different from what you are used to, it may just be your diet. It is possible that it could be an infection, but the only way to know for sure is to go the the doctor. Are you staying in a hotel? If you are, you might want to ask at the desk for a referral to a doctor or medical clinic. I don't know what the hospitals are like in New York, but all American hospital have strict regulations they are required to follow; and you don't want to wait too long to have this checked out.

Wheres the best place to go in Canada?

Q. I am from southern california, and next winter when im 18 and graduated i plan to travel to Canada with my girlfriend who will be 16 at the time (yeah its gnna be hard passing this by her parents LOL) So wheres the best/closest place to go in Canada from the west coast? How much money do you think id be looking at for staying a week up there?
wow thats a bummer sue f, theres no way around that?

A. Well, I would suggest checking out the Shuswap Valley, Kamloops, Kelowna, Revelstoke, Even Banff and Jasper would be great. Our dollar currency is the same right now and doesn't look like it will change anytime soon. If you planning on Hotels, it will range any where from 99$ - $159/night. If you use Motels and stay in smaller towns, maybe 79$ - 99$/night. If you brought a lot of your own food and just used a cooler, you would save some money. Gas is pretty exspensive here $1.10- $1.29/litre(4.62 - 5.49/ galon).

Really if you want beauty, go to Banff and Jasper in the Mountains - extremely beautiful, but exspensive. 16$/day for park pass, and then hotel rooms are about 200$ or more a night.

You could aslo Check out Vancouver and Victoria, but I think you two would be kind of young for there. It would be like going to New york, or Toronto.

Canadians, what do you like best about your beautiful country?
Q. I'm English and I really want to visit Canada. As a prospective tourist I would like a Canadians opinion on the best bits of Canada so I know what I have to see/experience when I go in terms of Cities, towns, highways, landscapes, food, architecture, history, people, national parks, travel.
To give you sense of what I mean, to most young people in England Canada is bears, mountains, forests, snow and Avril Lavigne lol... but what else is there?

Any answers would be great :)

Thanks.

A. Montreal is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in Canada. I suggest going there closer to Christmas. It's so beautiful with all the lights and the shopping is really great.

Ottawa is beautiful, and full of pretty gardens and old buildings. It's great around both winter and spring.

A trip throughout the maritimes is a good one as well. There's Nova Scotia, News Brunswick, Newfoundland, and PEI. Whether you go to a major city or a little town there, they all feel like charming little boating villages. I especially love Halifax, it's right on the water, and so nice.

Winnipeg, though not everyone thinks so, is a great city (perhaps not so much in winter though!). It's also very old because of the Hudsons Bay Company. There are great museums there, I would especially recommend Lower Fort Gary or the Museum of Man and Nature. And there are so many beach communities an hours drive from the city. Renting a cottage out there is a great way to spend a week, and the drive out along the River Road is really spectacular.

Calgary is alright, but it`s best in July when the Stampede is here. But Banff is a super cute little winter village and the Banff Springs Hotel is just magnificent! And Bannf National Park is a beautiful place for hiking. It's just a few hours from Calgary. Or from Edmonton, if you would like to visit there, which has West Edmonton Mall, the greatest mall of life!

BC is also fabulous. Victoria is so beautiful and great for shopping. Vancouver has so much do, it's a city full of life. Kelowna is very relaxing and little coastal towns are great to visit.

What is the closest hotel to the Greyhound bus station in Kelowna, BC?
Q.

A. The Best Western is directly beside the bus station.

What would you pay on average for a hotel room? How expensive is too expensive?

Q. I'm doing a report for a Guest Management Service class on "How Expensive is too Expensive?" in regards to hotel prices. What you pay on average for a hotel room? And what do you think certain age groups pay for hotels? Who's more attracted to the expensive hotels and the cheap or medium priced hotels?

A. On average, I pay between $80-$100 for a moderate hotel room that offers free internet and breakfast. I will pay up to $250 for a hotel room in a prime location (such as major cities or on the beach). The time of year also effects the cost of a room. A hotel in Washington, D.C. can be $75.00 a night in March but $375 in October or April. I think younger hotel guests are more interested in finding the cheapest price. Older guests are willing (and able) to pay higher prices for a prime location in high season that offers amenities such as restaurants, spa services, gym, pool, etc. Families want a moderate price for a clean, safe hotel.

What's the best time to book a trip to Cancun for Winter 2008?
Q. My friend and I are planning a trip to Cancun, Mexico sometime in February 2008. I was wondering if there's a good time to book this trip. I wanted to book a flight & hotel package online. I've been checking many web-site such as expedia, orbitz, hotwire, etc.
What's the best time of year to book this trip so I can get the cheapest price. Also, does anyone know any good web-sites that offer cheap prices? The hotel must be all-inclusive.

Thanks!

A. Right now is because most tour operators offer Early Booking Bonuses now for travel between Oct - Dec. Check with your travel agent and they can give you a list of what they call EBB's ( Early Booking Bonuses. )

What are some good hotels around the Sandusky, Ohio (Cedar Point) Area?
Q. A friend and I are planning a road trip in late June/early July to go to Cedar Point and we want to know if there are any good and cheap (as in price) hotels around the area. We don't want to stay in a dump, but we're both college students, so we can't afford a five-star hotel. Also, if there are any hotels you can find us that have special deals that would be great!

Thanks in advance.

A. Ok I live in a suburb in Cleveland around 50 miles from Cedar Point and i was in the same shoes you were!

So here is a list of some hotels in the link i have for you that are great for cheap but not dumpy hotels.

As in cheap i mean around anywhere from 70-100 a night! Since Sandusky is a tourist trap, dont expect to find a moderate hotel for 50-80 a night. Even though you mentioned above that you do not want expensive hotels, take a look at the Great Wolf Lodge, Castaway Bay, and Kalahari hotels..these places will make your jaw drop!

A. Twickenham is about 13 or 14 miles from the bridge. The nearest tube station to the hotel is Richmond and that is in zone 4. There are plenty of hotels in zone 1 or 2. Try hotels.com for some deals on hotels.

What is a good price for RT airfare to London from Boston for July 2013?
Q. My husband and I want to book a trip to London July 2013 and we found airfare from Boston to London for $844. That seems like a really good price to me, but I was wondering if more seasoned travelers thought so, or if they think the price might go down. Thanks!

A. Very similar to what I just paid for an October trip (booked last February). Seems reasonable.

London hotels are expensive. You could look at package deals as a possible way to save.

How much should I expect to pay for a 4-Star hotel in London in the summer?
Q. any tips on good deals on hotels in London, thanks!

A. Your best bet is to do a city-wide quote and see what's available among the hotels -- it's difficult to give even an average price, since there's such a big difference between what all the hotels offer.

Head over to http://www.resideo.com/gb/london/ and click the "Check Availability" button. Choose your dates, submit the form, and check out the results.

You can sort the list by rating or by price.

Read more about each hotel, view pics, etc & then book online!

Good luck, and have fun!

Which hotels in Dubai have a nice beach and yet are close to the shopping, souqs and activities of the city?

Q. Which hotels in Dubai have a nice beach and yet are close to the shopping, souqs and activities of the city?

A. Anywhere down the Dubai Marina area have great beaches ( Ritz Carlton, Hilton, Sheraton, Wistin, La Meridian, Harbtor Grand). Like most accommodation in Dubai, these are a bit pricey, but, it's the best place to stay and taxis are very cheap. Great shopping near by, but the souks are about a 30-40 drive. You wouldn't want to stay near them anyway, there in the older part of Dubai. Good Luck!

How strict are New Orleans hotels during Mardi Gras regarding number of people staying in a room?

Q. Four of my friends booked a hotel in New Orleans for Mardi Gras this year (not sure which one though). I want to go, but I don't have a place to stay. They said I could stay with them. How strict are New Orleans hotels during Mardi Gras about this?

A. that depends on the hotel.

for example some hotels give out arm bands that allow guests to easily go in and out of the hotel all day and keep out the people that just need to pee.

if your staying at a cheap place probably not a problem.

find out how much it would cost to add a roll a bed to your room or if they even allow that.

Where should I rent a hotel in New Orleans?
Q. Me and my fiance and a couple of friends are going to New Orleans on our first trip. He has been once before but I have never been. Where is the best place to get a hotel in New Orleans? We also need a low priced hotel. Any suggestions?

A. I have always had wonderful luck putting friends and family at Maison DuBois Bed and Breakfast. They have large suites, wonderful pool and spa and great location to everything in french quarter and frenchmen street.

Where's the best place to stay in Chicago that is both close to sites and relatively reasonably priced. ?

Q.

A. Your best bet is to try Priceline or Hotwire and look for "River North" or "Magnificent Mile" locations. Hotels in the "Loop" are convenient to the museums and business district, but the area is pretty dead come nightfall.

As already mentioned, Best Western River North (with free parking - a perk that otherwise costs $45 or so) and Club Quarters (which has 2 locations: 111 W Adams and 75 E Wacker) are affordable, well-located options. Sustainably focused Hotel Felix (111 W Huron) sometimes has reasonable rates.

Best Honeymoon packages in Chicago?
Q. I'm having a wedding in August, we are thinking about honeymooning in chicago! any idea's? Hotel wise and attractions?

A. UPDATED (with more links and info):

These sites might help with a lot of information:
http://honeymooninchicago.com/
http://danielandelizabeth.wordpress.com/2009/08/06/honeymooning-in-chicago/
http://www.ehow.com/way_5318058_chicago-honeymoon-ideas.html
http://www.wyndham.com/hotels/ORDDT/planawedding/honeymoons/main.wnt

Other than that, I just have "romance" related suggestions:

HOTELS:
If expense is no worry, then the Pennisula (http://www.peninsula.com/Chicago/en/default.aspx ) and Four Seasons hotels (http://www.fourseasons.com/chicagofs/ ) are usually ranked the highest. For something very modern, there is the W hotel (http://www.starwoodhotels.com/whotels/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=2005 ). Sybaris always touts itself as a romantic option - http://www.sybaris.com/modules/main/default.aspx .

Boutique hotels offer personalized service, with a sometimes quirky bent. Some boutique hotels that you might want to look into is the new Wit hotel (http://www.thewithotel.com/ ), Hotel Allegro (http://www.allegrochicago.com/ ), Hotel Felix (http://www.hotelfelixchicago.com/ ), Hotel Burnham (http://www.burnhamhotel.com/ ), and Hotel Monaco (http://www.monaco-chicago.com ).

Also, there is the bed & breakfast option, which may require a stay of at least 2 to 3 days. You can check out this site - http://www.chicago-bed-breakfast.com/index.html - for some B&Bs to look into. Some unique B&B's include - The Monastery of the Holy Cross (http://chicagomonk.org/?page_id=21 ) and House 5863 (http://www.house5863.com/ - modern). The Bed & Breakfast site has some "Hot Deals" that you can check out here - http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/HotDeals.aspx . There are some nice options outside of Chicago like Lynfred Winery Bed & Breakfast in Roselle, IL (under an hour away); Chestnut Street Inn in Sheffield, IL; Galena, IL; and Lake Geneva, IL.

Otherwise, check out a multi-search site like Dealbase (http://www.dealbase.com/Chicago-hotel-deals-discounts-714 ) to search for hotels. Otherwise, some basic sites to check out are http://expedia.com , http://orbitz.com , http://www.quikbook.com/ , http://travelocity.com , and http://hotels.com . If you're keen on a particular hotel, check their site for deals and look for tips from a site like Yelp (http://yelp.com ) or TripAdvisor (http://www.tripadvisor.com/ ). Priceline (http://priceline.com ) offers good deals, but it can be a risky choice if you are picky about time and other preferences.

ATTRACTIONS:
Study a map of Chicago and pick out top spots that you want to go to. It'll likely save you some time if you have a basic understanding of the city's grid system, major spots, and public transportation (http://www.transitchicago.com ). You can hire a limo or take taxis too. Again, your budget and interests aren't clear, but here are some suggestions:

* Walk along Lake Michigan. There are beach areas. In the downtown area, there is the Museum Campus to check out. There is Navy Pier, which has plenty of attractions. You can even go on a cruise. See http://www.chicagotraveler.com/boat_tours.htm .

* Millennium Park (http://www.millenniumpark.org ) at night is beautiful. Grant Park is nice too, with the famous Buckingham Fountain. Strolling around there is free. If you go further north, you can take pictures along the Chicago River's bridges and walkways. You can go on a boat tour.

* There is the Art Institute of Chicago (http://www.artic.edu/aic/ , Washington & Michigan - east side). You can also walk to it via the bridge in the back of Millennium Park. They opened a fabulous Modern Art Wing last summer. If you don't want to go in (for some crazy reason), just take a picture with the lions out front and check out the other outdoor displays around the building. There are weekly free times and some free days during the year. Yet there are many more museums - some more obscure than others - which you can check out. See http://www.centerstagechicago.com/other/styles/museums.html for a list.

* Chicago Cultural Center (http://www.chicagoculturalcenter.org , on NW corner of Washington and Michigan) - If you want some background on all things Chicago and check out local creativity, this lovely building is cool to explore. Plus, it's free.

* Take the tour up Willis Tower (http://www.willistower.com/ ) on Wacker Drive. The tower has a new viewing area where you can step out and feel like you're walking on air. You can eat the Venice Cafe while you're there too. Also, you can check out the John Hancock Observatory. It's Signature Room (http://www.signatureroom.com ) is a top fine-dining pick for many with great views from the 95/96th floors. Also, the Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago has Sixteen, a fine dining restaurant on the 16th floor, with views of the Chicago River. See http://www.trumpchicagohotel.com/Food_Wine/Food_Wine.asp .

* Japonais Restaurant (http://www.japonaischicago.com/index2.html ) - The interior of this place is sensual. It sits along the Chicago River, and the lounge alone is something to check out. The food is cool (but pricey) too; particularly if you like to sizzle meat on a stone. If you're not hungry, just lounge around. I was impressed.

* The Magnificent Mile is pretty ... you know. See http://www.themagnificentmile.com/ . For deep dish pizza, go to Pizzeria Uno or Due (http://www.unos.com ), Lou Malnati's (http://www.loumalnatis.com ), or Gino's East (http://www.ginoseast.com - can write on walls there). The Pizzeria Uno group claims to be the originator of the deep dish. The Malnati family was involved in that dish creation. I always recommend the Grand Lux Cafe on Michigan & Ontario (above Ann Taylor) for eating within the $15-$30 range. This place has an opulent feel. You can ask for a plush booth seat next to the window to look down on Michigan Ave. It's a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant, a restaurant management company which owns top-quality places. Check out more LEY restaurants here: http://www.leye.com/restaurants . Wildfire restaurants (also part of the Lettuce Entertain You group) are always great and has various locations. See http://www.wildfirerestaurant.com/ .

On the more expensive end, there is Zest (http://www.icchicagohotel.com/dining/zest_restaurant.cfm ). You can get a view of Michigan Avenue as well, if you ask for a seat by a window. It's the restaurant for the Hotel Intercontinental. I found the flavor combinations here interesting too. A top Italian restaurant would be Spiaggia (http://www.spiaggiarestaurant.com ) and it has views of Michigan Avenue.

* You shouldn't go to Chicago without catching a blues show (i.e. Buddy Guy's Legends would be a key spot - http://www.buddyguys.com/ ).

* You can visit Hyde Park in the near south area. The Obamas have a residence there. Also, the Hyde Park Art Center (http://www.hydeparkart.org ) is cool to check out. A fun place to eat is Medici on 57th (http://www.medici57.com ).

* A bit further south and you'll run into Chinatown - one of the more inexpensive but cool areas to explore (http://www.chicagochinatown.org/cccorg/home.jsp ). Dine at Phoenix (http://www.chinatownphoenix.com/ ).

* Explore various neighborhoods like Printers Row, Wicker Park/Bucktown, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Greektown, and Little Italy.

* An architectural tour is always interesting (http://www.architecture.org/tours.aspx ). You could go on a chocolate tour (http://www.chicagochocolatetours.com/tours/ ).

* Fondue is always romantic. You can get some together at the chain restaurant - The Melting Pot (http://www.meltingpot.com/ ). Gejas Cafe (http://www.gejascafe.com/ ) has fondue, but also features live Classical and Flamenco guitar. There is the Chocolate Bar at the Peninsula Hotel (http://www.centerstagechicago.com/bars/chocolate-bar.html ) too.

* Tapas is fun - getting a variety of usually Spanish food on small plates. Great for sharing in groups. One good spot is Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba (http://www.cafebabareeba.com ). Some nice spots to check out in the neighborhood is Vosges Haut Chocolate (http://www.vosgeschocolate.com/ ), LUSH (http://www.lush.com/ ), Aroma Workshop (http://aromaworkshop.com ) for making perfume/lotions/oils, and Swirlz (http://www.swirlzcupcakes.com ). Emilio's is another tasty tapas adventure (http://emiliostapas.com ). There's an Emilio's in Streeterville.

* Feast (http://www.feastrestaurant.com/ ) for dinner in Wicker Park/Bucktown is very nice. Yet a more romantic spot is The Violet Hour (http://www.theviolethour.com/ ).

* For some excitement, Nacional 27 is the place to eat, drink, and get your Latin dance on. See http://www.n27chicago.com/ . It's pricey, but worth it for a special night. I've enjoyed a lot of good times there for various weekend outings. Carnivale (http://www.carnivalechicago.com ) has a lively atmosphere. Also, you can watch belly dancing, get your hookah on, and eat some tasty Middle Eastern food at Juliana Restaurant and Nightclub (http://www.wttw.com/main.taf?erube_fh=wttw&wttw.submit.CPRestaurantDetail=1&wttw.RestaurantID=124 ). Other entertaining spots are the Green Mill in Uptown (http://www.greenmilljazz.com/ ), Howl at the Moon (http://www.howlatthemoon.com/the-show ), and Second City (http://www.secondcity.com/ ).

* Morton's Steakhouse (http://www.mortons.com/ ), Pars Cove (http://www.parscove.com/ ), Fogo de Chao (http://www.fogodechao.com/ ), Hot Chocolate (http://www.hotchocolatechicago.com/ ), and a Travola (http://www.atavolachicago.com/ ) are top rated.

* Other hookah places (see http://chicago.citysearch.com/listings/chicago-il/hookah/58044?what=Hookah http://www.centerstagechicago.com/search/index.cfm?phrase=hookah&button.x=0&button.y=0&button=FIND ) are possibilities. See http://hookahchicago.com as well.
